Trade for Festus?

I don't know Festus game very well. Could you help us with our issues guarding a stretch 5? I know he is a fairly good shot blocker but I think we have the paint covered pretty well.

We get festus simply because we would require a draft pick to take him on. So we dont make the trade because we think festus can help us (withey > festus imo) but so we can get a draft pick.

He is out for the year. He would never play a game in a Jazz uniform.

I don't see why the Jazz do this trade. He isn't going to help the team. They don't want to pay him next year, and they already have 2 picks in the late first this year (theirs and GS Warriors). They don't want 3 rookies on their team next year they have to pay and taking up roster spots. They probably won't be able to move up much by trading them either.

Some people really got the reading issues dont they?

1.His contract is not guaranteed next year
2.We have a ton of cap-space this year we arent using, so if we could get a pick by using it without burdening our future books then why not?
3. Picks are always valuable. Multitude number of things you could do with a first this year. Kyle Korver was bought this year with a first round pick, he is a pretty solid player. We could use our pick, trade our pick for a future pick, trade our pick for a player, package our pick with a player, draft and stash our pick, etc. We could do more things with an extra pick than we could do without an extra pick.

Like HH said, Utah only pays a prorated portion of that 7.4 million. He does have 1 million guaranteed next year though.

Would actually get close to saving is money because the full cap number goes into our cap even though we pay the prorated portion.

Only downside is that we couldn't do the hill extension, which he may not be open too... there are other teams below the floor that would likely love to take the deal for less than first round compensation.

If Philly, Denver, and Brooklyn don't do anything with their excess cap space they will actually save money by acquiring Ezeli.

Porty holds on to him until right next to the deadline then trades him for a 2nd rounder that won't convey... Portland probably sends some cash in the deal.

Anyone saying they wouldn't do it doesn't understand how this stuff works... unless we know that Hill is willing to sign an extension but we are all waiting until right before the trade deadline.

Just being a bit player on a winning team doesn't make someone a "winner." There are plenty of knuckleheads who have ridden the coat tails of others to a championship or Finals appearance.

Let's go out and get Barbosa, Mo Williams, Dahntay Jones. Those guys will certainly lead us to a title. They're veteran "winners," IINM.

I think DL will be working the phones until the deadline trying to acquire a player who can actually help rather than looking to acquire a 2nd for using up cap space.

Since we cant get any extension done on Hill/Favors we might as well use what cap-space we have left, right? They want to get out from paying Ezeli this year to save money and we have Neto making practically nothing this year.

Get the rights to their Cleveland 2017 pick for taking on Ezeli's contract this year. Ezeli is owed 7 million next year, but only 1 million is guaranteed.

I'd be all for it, as he'd be a huge upgrade to Withey and insurance when Favors is out. Kid had some nice moments in last year's finals fo sho.
