Following potential 2017 draftees...

Another 2017 pick gets traded today in a good move for both teams. I particularly like the move for Orlando lots of upside if they hit on the pick, and they strike while the irons hot, Ibaka would've likely walked this offseason for no return... They move Gordon back to his more natural PF spot and get a real shooter at SF.

This screams Hezonja's getting moved.

Many are overemphasizing them trading a lottery pick for a lesser one in this draft, the difference is not what they think it is, there will be lottery talents on the board after the lottery.. The cap implications of Orlando's recent moves have been understated as well from the fan reactions I've seen.

Can't help but think the Jazz had the assets to make this move for Ibaka but chose to stick with Favors or maybe they don't want to give up a pick or maybe Burks..

Not sure if I've addressed this thought here before:
When I first sorted through videos of Harry Giles, I wondered - Why was he ever considered as a potential 1st pick? His toolkit looks like he belongs in the 90s

He's got 2-way upside, they thought he could do it all.. He's got great lateral quickness, enough to really hedge out on the perimeter. Prototype size, runs like the wind, great feet and great hands, explosive, coordinated, advanced, great instincts, he can shoot, he can handle, block shots, he can faceup and backdown.. He's really a smart kid and definitely a winner IMO.

Harry Giles was clearly a better HS prospect than Derrick Favors, and I hold Favors in high esteem in those sort of conversations, I've always said Favors was a good measurement (one reason was because they always used to say the word 'prototype')

I have to ask what was your initial opinion on Ivan Rabb? who used to be #1 in the class years back... Rabb and Giles will always be linked in my mind, they both looked like lottery picks to me a long time ago.

Check out this footage from him as a freshman(14 years old).. Impressive stuff. totally the type of thing you don't see every year, certainly not from a legit 6'9" freshman...

Not long on Brown, certainly not as long as you, but I been talking bout Semi here since he was a freshman.

I win the 'me first' pissing contest, pipe down.

Used to think my call on De'Aaron Fox would be my best here because of how early the shot was called. I've already surpassed it tho with the mentioning of Zion Williamson summers back..before he was a big deal.. back when there was just a video or 2 of him on YT..months before MOST scouting services debuted him in their rankings.

In fact I've already pointed out "the next KD" who's currently in 7th grade.. Those future draft threads serve as a challenge for anyone to spot a 'can't miss' as early as possible IMO.. Not just for HS kids but maybe College Fr. that will need a few years such as you're claiming with Ojeleye

Maybe I'm the weird one here, but watching videos of young boys isn't something I'd be proud of.

Why does somebody have to be weird? As a sports fan, it's fun to watch people who have elite talent practice their craft - regardless of age . But just because you don't like watching until they reach whatever age, doesn't make you weird either.

Maybe at age 14...He was still projected #2 by dx less than a year ago.
The issue I had when I saw his highlights was that I couldn't give him a position in a very bad way.
When I projected his tiny frame competing with physically superior bigs(e.g. everyone else in the league), I thought he might get a concussion every 2nd week. I don't see how he can go above 230lbs without losing much of his explosiveness.
Even though his mobility is great and reminds me of Stoudemire in a way, Amares frame, skill and BBIQ were good in the pros.
Skill is the next major issue I had: When he's physically unfit to play Center on a great team, he'd have to play on the perimeter, where he'd still be interesting if he wouldn't ruin his team's spacing. So do you only put him on a team with a Center who can populate the arc consistently? Being so situational isn't superstar potential.
Anthony Davis who is similarly nimble has way softer hands, a wider frame and is a little bit longer. Oh, he also can convert jump shots from 3.
Were ppl in denial until a year ago about him dominating high school because he was the only one hitting weights? Did they think he'd develop a reliable jump shot even though his free throws look disappointing?

He looks like a good stats bad team guy right now.
The thing with Favors is that there were no cameras everywhere that measured everything when he went to HS. guys like Dirk were the exception, not the norm. Since roughly 5 years ago teams have heavily readjusted their rosters to new discoveries. Giles doesn't meet these requirements and a possible solution to circumvent it is passing. He isn't a great passer from what I've seen and read.

I had no opinion on Ivan Rabb. Would have to watch some clips.

If he is proud of watching 7th graders play basketball in his parent's basement then more power to him lmao. For someone who is 29 and "owns" a successful business and "can retire right now" he sure does have a lot of free time to watch little boys play basketball and post paragraph after paragraph about 200+ basketball prospects.

Watching 7th grade basketball is not watching them practice their craft. Have you ever seen middle school sports? It's a joke and I have no idea how people can make assumptions that a player is the next Durant based off of watching it.
