It's so funny how anti superstar some people are.

Lillard would easily be our best player.

It's like Harden a few years ago.

If you can get Lillard, you get him. If you can get Lillard AND keep Hayward and Gobert?

No brainer. And I don't think Portland would want Hayward or Gobert.

Favors, Exum and Hood and picks. Portland isn't getting a better deal than that. They sit Favors the rest of this year so he can get healthy.

They get a top 3 pick. Portland has rebuilt in one year:

Exum
McCollum
Hood
Favors

Top 3 pick.
Utah's pick.

Win win for all.

I'd assume any deal for Lillard that didn't involve Hay, Hill, or Gobert would involve Hood. So, in the event that we acquired Lillard, my starting backcourt would be Lillard and Hill.

Him being our best player is debatable IMO. I think Hayward and Gobert both have an argument. But yes you get him. Especially while the Jazz have so much depth.

Having Goebrt, Hayward, Hill to go with Lillard would be amazing. Also Lillard has Utah ties so that increases his likeliness to stay I'd think.

Good post. If you can get Lillard without giving up Gordon or Gobert, how and the **** can you not immediately jump at that?? Here's the deal with Lillard: He's a flat out all-star each and every year if it wasn't for the fact that the WC currently has an embarrassment of riches at the Guard position. I also agree that he's immediately the best player on the roster if the Jazz were to acquire him. Jazz fans that don't think he's a superstar would almost immediately **** themselves when they saw what a line-up including Lil, Hill, Hayward and Gobert are capable of. For me, it's too much of a fantasy to ever come true. This deal would make Utah the #2 team in the West and position them to give Golden State absolute fits.

Lillard would be our best player and it is not debatable. Go look at what Lillard did last year with Portland.

44 wins. Gobert and Hayward have never done that and they get to play together.

If you can get Lillard, you get him. It is a no brainer. I'd even trade Hayward to get him, but I don't think PDX would want Hayward with their rebuild.

Moving away from Stoked:

This debate is as stupid as the Harden debate a few years ago. Yes, if OKC wants Kanter and Hayward for Harden, YOU DO IT.

Stars win games here. Not a bunch of role players. Go get stars. That is the hard part. It is easy to find role players. It is near IMPOSSIBLE to get a player of Lillard's level. We had a shot with Harden and sat on our hands. Don't be stupid again. Go get Lillard. Especially if you can keep Gobert.

Lillard and Gobert would be as good as any duo in the league. They win you 50 games a year.

Don't be dumb. Go get Lillard.
 
Portland ain't getting a better deal than this:

Lillard and Leonard for Favors, Hood, Exum and Diaw.

PDX gets a borderline All Star in Favors. They get a kid where the potential is still sky high and is showing promise in Exum. They get a solid starter in Hood. They get a contract they can cut in Diaw. PDX can immediately cut Diaw. They sit Favors the rest of the year and tell Favors this allows him to get healthy so he can come back and have a monster year next year (Favors' contract year). With Exum and Hood playing, PDX sucks (because Exum is still a ways off and Hood is so over-rated around here). They get a top 5 pick.

What the Jazz essentially give PDX is:

Favors - who is a borderline All Star and a top 5 defensive big
Hood - A solid starter who fits perfectly with McCollum
Exum - who is raw, but there is an all star inside him if you can find it
20 million in cap space.
A shot at a top 5 pick.

PDX ain't getting any sort of deal like that from anyone else.

Why would Utah do this? Gobert and Lillard would be a top 2 duo in the league. Throw in Hayward?

Top trios in the league:

Kyrie, LeBron, Love
Curry, Durant, Thompson
Aldridge, Gasol, Leonard

I'd put Lillard, Gobert, Hayward as #3 right now. IF LeBron takes ANY sort of step back or Love doesn't get healthy, then Lillard, Gobert and Hayward jump to #2.

Why in HOLY HELL would you not do whatever you need to do to get that done?
 
I'm not going to let this go. The last time I felt this strongly was when Harden was available. You guys know me. I firmly believe that you need stars to win. And don't give me this "Detroit pistons" garbage. That team was loaded.

If you do my trade above, you are left with this:

Lillard, Mack, Neto
Hill, Burks
Hayward, Ingles
Joe Johnson, Lyles
Gobert, Leonard, Withey

You might be screwed salary cap wise, so I think Deron comes off the table at this point, but if you can get him, get him.
 
I would love to see Lillard on this team, especially if you can keep Hayward and Gobert. I'd give up pretty much anyone else for him. Plus, he wanted to play for the Jazz, if I'm not mistaken. Lillard, Hayward and Gobert would be outstanding.

It is, but let's move past that.

I agree on getting him, I don't think that a Hayward for Lillard swap moves the needle. We need both along with Gobert.

Anyone outside of Gobert and Hayward is good to trade for him though. Hell any two. Plus the Jazz have a bunch of picks and we can take back an expiring. We both agree that they need to get him.

I agree with you. I think Lillard is a better player than Hayward, so I'd move Hayward for Lillard. BUT, PDX doesn't want Hayward. They want to tank and rebuild, so Hayward hurts them do that. He gets them wins this year and then leaves for Boston over the summer. So, Hayward isn't even in discussions for Lillard.

PDX probably asks for Gobert. I tell them to get lost. If I'm taking Lillard, I HAVE to have Gobert. They fit too well together. Lillard covers up Gobert's offensive weaknesses and highlights his strengths. Gobert covers up Lillard's defensive weaknesses.

They are as perfect a fit as John and Karl.

So, in summary of all my blathering, PDX doesn't want Hayward, I'm not giving up Gobert, and I don't think PDX gets a better offer than Favors, Hood and Exum for Lillard and Leonard.

That gives you Lillard, Hayward, and Gobert, which is a top 3 trio in the NBA. You are now officially a contender, especially with Lillard, who can go off for 50+ on any given night and beat any given team on any given night.

Then, all of the sudden, you are on the same level as GS and Cleveland. You have the talent. Now, you just need a little luck (like Cleveland got when Bogut was injured last year) and you have a title.

This is really a no brainer. You trade anyone not named Gobert for Lillard and bank on PDX not wanting Hayward.
