It's really strange. Is Cuban that stubborn? Can't he take 1 year off to tank and get a future PG?


It must be the kind of person/businessman that he is. He won't even take a 1 year setback to go forward 3-4 steps. Personally I don't think it's good business.


GSW owners did it right when the tanked to get Harrison Barnes (at our expense), and re-set that year. Barnes wasn't pivotal but he provided an injection of talent that catapulted them to where they are today.

The Mavs going for it the last few years really isn't any worse than the Jazz going for it this year. Similarly misguided situations, just at different stages of the process. you know, minus the championship (or even single playoff game) win when it comes to Hay..

They were trying to get help for their aging superstar who already led them to the promised land in hopes to make one final push..

They out-performed expectations for years running prior to that...

Maybe they're waiting for this years crop of PG's?

D-Will, though is what Utah needs: shooting, passing, defense, and leadership. 2nd unit, though, might be hard for D-Will to swallow when talking about him coming back to a team he almost led to a championship. Will fans accept him? Would he accept a bench role? Hill has shown he can play with a two PG offense and defense (with Monta Ellis, back in Indiana), and D-Will has shown he can do the same (for instance, playing with JJ Barea in Dallas). But, would the depth D-Will would immediately provide be enough to counter the first string talent of Golden State, San An, Houston, or the Clippers? I think yes. Yes against the Clippers, yes against Houston, yes against San Antonio, and, damn, I don't think any team can overpower Golden State's first string.... Still, giving D-Will a shot at doing it seems to be a great boost to the Jazz come playoffs.

Yes, he was. But I think he's expressed regrets. Sloan likely has forgotten he even coached a player named Deron.

Deron would need to return as the backup. He could likely play some combo guard. And no, it doesn't mean Utah has given up on Exum. It means Dante is the 3rd PG.

Jazz should pay no more than a couple of 2ndz, though. If Dallas demands a 1st, then move along.

I'm just not a person that gets excited about trades. I always want to see the team we have do something special. I'm a fan of the Jazz as they are constructed at any given moment.

It will be interesting to see if the Jazz make a move at the deadline. I wonder if the Jazz have started contract discussions with Hill's agent and we found that the starting point is going to be out of our range and retaining Hill is not really looking like a viable option. Maybe the Jazz already start preparing for the inevitable.

the reining theory is that it isn't in Hill's or Hayward's best interested to commit to the jazz long-term until both players can be locked in. That scenario rules out extension talks with Hill.

In short, I don't think there's reason for your Panic Scenario.
 
I'm down with d will.... in fact I think it would be a great move.
But..... that's without knowing what we give up and I don't know his contact situation.
