I know some don't like the guy, but of the remaining free agents he is the guy I'd most like on the team next year. He is injured this year and may be back for the playoffs.

So here is the deal...

If the Jazz can get him to sign for 4.2M or less this year he is basically free... makes the entire $4.2M and brings us to the salary floor. I checked CBA FAqs... because it is not an exception it does not have to be pro-rated.

He then gets another year at $4M next year (which is a discount on what he will get... imo opinion he gets 6-8m per over a 2-3 deal). If he wanted a Player option for a third year I'd be fine with that. If he does great he can be a free agent in 2018 and he made $8M for his troubles... if not he can take the other $4M.

A ready rotation player on the cheap is a good get for us next year... not sure he takes that deal though.

Look it's the only lemonade I think we can make out of this salary cap floor lemon we have. Provides some flexibility if we lose some depth.

Why not give Brock Motum the money. They are the same type of player.

Not really... I mean Brock might be the homeless mans d league version of Casspi.

He isn't close to a good rotation player..

He's a versatile 8th-9th man. He's better than Lyles right now... better than diaw imo. If we lose Ingles, Diaw, or trade Burks or Favors there would be minutes for him.

40 percent from three... good rebounding combo forward... good locker room guy. Not a defensive stopper but if he was he'd get a hell of a lot more than what I'm proposing.

You all need to take into account injuries. **** happens and even if he's not better than Lyle's these type of guys are low risk/no risk injury insurance. Look at the Warriors bringing in Matt Barnes. Is anyone debating he's better than anyone in that rotation? No. But he adds depth

Barnes is actually a good player tho.

Casspi sucks

If I'm reading this right, HH wants to sign Casspi for the remaining salary floor this year as long as he comes cheap for next year also.

While that's not a bad idea, I think it's not a good plan to tie up any cap space for next year (or the year after) on guys that might not be in the rotation - and he could easily find himself out of it. Save your money for guys that will contribute.

Why not just give the roster a bonus? They have played well.

Casspi adds nothing to this team. He sucks.

Withey and Mack. Both expiring. Both out of the rotation.

If you can upgrade. . . you should. Not saying that Casspi is the guy to do that. I'm still in favor of Claiming Bogut on waivers for the end of the year and playoffs.

That ship sailed... Casspi likely doesn't enter the rotation this year unless we have injuries near playoff time.

Also, he is better than Cy indicates.. shot 40% from three the last few years in a toxic environment... also good rebounder. He's a cheap combo forward.

If he isn't in the plans next year you could easily move the guy. If we retain Hill we will need to replace some of the current rotation with cheap parts... he could be one of those cheap parts.

The Bogut ship is what I was referring to.

I didn't even realize the Warriors had signed Barnes, just gives me one more reason to hate them.

As for the OP's idea, I like it. He would be cheap and would add depth for next season. He's a better player than most of you guys are giving him credit for. I'd rather have him than Fat Boris, that's for sure.

Marc Stein tweeted that Omri is a week away from returning and has multiple teams in pursuit... going to go ahead and call my shot now and say we get him.

The Cavs just waived Bogut and Deandre Liggins. I suspect they are out shopping at Walmart.

I hear Brock Motum is available.

We could offer Omri real money... he's made like 12-15M for his career... not sure prorated minimum deal could compete with what we could offer. $200k vs. $4M... would be a pretty easy decision.
