Do you really think this draft will have any impact on the Jazz in the next 5 years? If so what impact? Is there a game-changer in this draft?

Not too optimistic if KOC actually drafts two players. But if he gets creative using the picks in trades I might get more excited. Either way I'll be talking myself into whoever comes on board in the hope Jazz scouts really figured out who the diamonds in the rough are.

Some cheese is good, and some cheese is bad.
That question is too generic, so I didn't feel I could accurately answer the poll.

YES! This draft COULD shape the franchise for years to come. Irving and Williams could shape a franchise, and I really think Kemba, or Knight could turn out to be good. No matter how weak the draft looks now, I still think there are 5-10 players who could turn out to be solid starters in the NBA 5 years from now.

The Jazz are in a position they have never been in before: two top 10 picks from the 2010 draft and an additional top 5 pick (chances at top 3) and 12 pick in the 2011 draft. I also have heard that the Jazz really want/will do whatever they can to get Derrick Williams. They have a lot of pieces (expiring Ks, draft picks, young players). However, I have a hard time seeing either of the teams that eventually win a top 2 pick ever trading down to 5/6 due to the overall weakness of the draft.

But... Washington was the 5th worst record last year and Philly was the 6th worst and both won the top 2 picks so you never know what the Jazz might end up with!

Since 2000, the team that won the lottery has usually been in the Jazz's (NJ's) range:

2000 New Jersey Nets -----------(7th-worst) 44 (out of 1000) 4.40%
2001 Washington Wizards ---------(3rd-worst) 157 (out of 1000) 15.70%
2002 Houston Rockets ------------ (5th-worst) 89 (out of 1000) 8.90%
2003 Cleveland Cavaliers----------- (Worst) 225 (out of 1000) 22.50%
2004 Orlando Magic ------------------ (Worst) 250 (out of 1000) 25.00%
2005 Milwaukee Bucks------------ (6th-worst) 63 (out of 1000) 6.30%
2006 Toronto Raptors ------------ (5th-worst) 88 (out of 1000) 8.80%
2007 Portland Trail Blazers------------ (6th-worst) 53 (out of 1000) 5.30%
2008 Chicago Bulls --------------(9th-worst) 17 (out of 1000) 1.70%
2009 Los Angeles Clippers ------ (2nd-worst) 177 (out of 1000) 17.70%
2010 Washington Wizards ------(5th worst)

didn't vote.

dunno on this one. outside of the top 2 or 3 players I'm feeling pretty 'meh'.

This is a terrible draft for possessing two lottery picks. Where are all those folks that were rooting for us to tank? How are you feeling now? I'd much rather have our pick next year (which I suppose we still might get because we aren't able to catapult from this position with these incoming players).

my fading optimism is now targeted at the impending lockout... i mean, it's hard to care about this draft class when you might not even see them play until the year after next.

I deny your claim that cheese can be good or bad. All cheese is good by definition. Just answer the question! Do you like cheese or not?

I kind of go along these lines, although I did vote that this draft will only really have an impact if we trade one or both picks for an established all-star-type player. This could be a good draft if we can move assets to improve our lot directly with established players. If we rely on drafting in this draft, we will not get anything that will be a game changer imo. I guess we could end up with 3 or 4 solid starters and hope to get to the championship by being above average across the board.

Yeah, I don't buy that either.

A lot of us would've liked the Jazz make the playoffs if only to give up this year's pick rather than next year's. But once it was obvious the Jazz were going to miss the playoffs this year anyway THEN I started rooting for them to fall hard, just to get the most out of the pick. If they're missing the playoffs anyway, better to pick at 12 than at 14. Minor, I know but this season sucked and we have to derive some enjoyment out of stupid things like a couple draft spots.

But yeah, 12- 14 big deal. The pick that matters is the nets pick. I'm having fun rooting for the Kings vs. L.A., for the Wiz vs. Clevland, and for the Bulls vs. the Nets. The chances of moving into the top 3 are increasing.

I definitely think the Venezualan Beaver Cheese is a bad type of cheese.

I rest my case...... now will you clarify the question?

By the way, can you shut up that Bouzouki player?

I voted for the cheese, but I am of the opinion that this draft will most likely be somewhere in the middle of shaping our team, and being a waste.
I think we can get some good pieces for our team, but I don't think they will be All-Stars.
I am hoping for one All-Star with the 5 or 6 pick though.

My real 2 cents with all joking aside.

we've spent the majority of our daydreaming on what would happen if the 5-6th pick vaults into the top 3, but I don't think I've heard anybody talk about the various possibilities of taking the 12th pick + player/future pick and moving into the 7-10 range. At the right cost, I think that could be worth the risk; it could net us Knight, for example.

i'd rather have JIMMER.

All of those cheeses are wonderful. Beaver cheese is the bees knees. I prefer cheese that smells like feet. I like feet, I do not know why.

Most cheese "types", by the way, are just variations on core cheeses typically differentiated by the type of mammal that produced the raw milk, and the method of production or aging. Like Gouda, Smoked Gouda, Jalapeno Gouda, Fennel Gouda (very good-a bye the way...sorry couldn't resist), etc.

I am still waiting to try opossum cheese. Ooh and imagine gorilla cheese.

Mmmmmm.

I disagree. I think in this draft there is not enough difference between a player taken at 7 vs one taken at say 12 or 13. Just no real game changers there. I would not waste assets on a move like that. Better to use them to find something of value already in the league.

No matter how much research you do its always a crap shoot. 90% of the board was willing to give up the farm to trade up and draft Evan Turner or Wesley Johnson, and they are both looking like busts so far.
