What's new

My last hopes for Favors died tonight ....

Okay, so what 4/5 is out there in the draft who can play some d? Any trade we could swing? This needs to be addressed.

I think Motley and Abedayo are probably the 2 most interesting names to look at with the 30th pick. Not sure I like any of the bigs at 24 (over the guards/wings) unless someone projected to go higher ends up dropping.

Think both those players have more potential than Bolomboy and definitely have more size.

I still think Pattrick Patterson might be a good fit at PF for us. He can play defense, he can hit the three. He can start for us if Favors is a corpse next year or be a good back up if Favors recovers. I feel like we might get him for a good deal as well and he is only 28. Maybe he gets a big offer though I dont really know in this market. But we need to upgrade Withey. We need someone that can play 15 minutes a night at back up center and can fill in for a couple games when Rudy is down. Maybe a Zaza type player? Not sure if GS will retain him or not. Especially if this team is going to play the same way with Gobert off the court. I am guessing Dedmon will opt out of his Spurs contract although I am not sure what he would sign for and what role he will be looking for.

He needs an off season to recover from injuries and get back into shape. He also needs to not play out of position at a position he has never been good at even when healthy and in game shape. He also needs to not match up with one of the top Centers in the league and the most athletic player at that position. He played poorly and needed to make 1 FT but not sure what everyone expected when he hardly touched the ball all night and was clearly hobbled and exhausted by the end. He put in a good effort and slowed Jordan down more than the previous game.

I agree with this. I seriously think they need to keep him out for a full half-season next year then bring him along slowly, maybe even in D-League or something, to work into game shape. He is less than 25% of the player he was. Sadly this is one prediction I got right this year, that lingering injuries to Favors will reduce him to a non-factor.

When the Clippers blow everything up because they can't get past the Warriors we could go after Speights or even Griffin. Griffin along-side Gobert would be fairly epic, although I really can't stand the guy. Of course this completely ignores salary cap impact but hey it was just off the top of my head.

Andy Larsen reports favors didn't practice out in the open today but behind the privacy screen at the practice facility. Doesn't bode well, and he was already looking terrible.

I thought that happened before last game as well but it was reported because Jazz didnt want any info about Gobert leaked.

I know many dislike him but Javale Mcgee would be a really good back up to Gobert next season. He brings some of the same things Gobert does and allows us to not change our game style as much. Mcgee is better in open court than half court like Gobert but I still think he protects the rim pretty well.

I probably should not post this since its way too early but... I am doing work on the computer and keep getting distracted...

Way way too early because we are going to get past the Clippers and play GS but next season I dream about this roster:

Exum/vet PG/Neto
Paul George(I know unlikely)/Inlges/FA or draft pick
Hayward/JJ/FA or draft pick
Pattrick Patterson/(Favors if they dont want him in trade and we give them Burks to make it work)FA or draft pick(wish we could bring back Booker here, Maybe a 2nd round pick would be worth it to the Nets)
Gobert/Mcgee/probably another vet that can play both C and PF that rarely sees the court

I think we could go after George or Butler and offer up Hood, Burks, Lyles, any pick they want, Favors(I know he isnt worth much trade wise but would make the salaries work) if the want JJ they could have him as well but I would rather keep him. Obviously we would not trade all those players so we could keep who they didn't want for depth. I am sure they could get a better offer but if we could get him for Hood, Burks and Lyles plus a few picks I would be pretty stoked.

Thought that was just for Gobert last time.

Maybe that was just for Gobert and this is just for Favors. If that is the case and they are showing Gobert and not showing Favors that could be concerning. Although I would be surprised if they were letting Gobert practice in front of the media. Gobert healthy or not should be a surprise to the Clippers how he looks imo.

LOL, that's always the answer. Exum would be good if only he had an off-season. Burks too. Now Favors needs an offseason. These three COMBINED to play about 3,000 minutes, same as several individual players did.

These are all different situations. Exum really does need to actually have an offseason of healthy work as a professional. He's recovering from an injury that almost always takes 2 years to fully recover from. Burks and Favors are slightly different, as they just can't seem to get healthy, and are much older players with mature bodies and limited upside.

I've always really liked him even through all the Shaqtin a fool stuff and he has has basically been a perfect replacement for Bogut on that GSW squad

He's going to get paid by someone this offseason

Is there any chance Favors was/is sick? He looked fatigued early in the game. Just some wishful thinking since he'd looked so much better recently and had a couple days off before game 3.

I still think we need to run a play here or there early in the game for Favors to give him some confidence. Get him in the game on the offensive end.

This. He's basically became a afterthought in our offense last night and we all know he's much better than that(even if he is a bit hobbled)
