All-NBA Teams Will Be Announced Early

The awards show is June 26th but the league is going to announce the All-NBA teams a few weeks before the draft.

Hayward could be eligible for a massive payday if he makes one of the teams. In essence he would opt in to his contract for the 2017-18 season and then take a mega-extension from the Jazz. This is just one of many scenarios that could play out but I think it is highly possible.

Prediction:

Rudy gets all-nba 2nd team. Makes all defensive team. Does not get defensive player of the year.

Hayward gets all-nba 3rd team.


Fun fact, the last Jazz player to get all-nba 1st team honors was Malone in 1999. The last of 10 consecutive selections to the all-nba 1st team.

To get the new mega max as a free agent, you need 8 or 9 years of service in the league. Gordon only has seven. He could get the extension, but that would kick in after next season, meaning that he would be on a six year deal.

I think he'd have to play out his current contract then get the mega-max next year.

That said, Hayward is in line for All NBA with Lebron, Kawhi, Durant, Giannis, Draymond and probably Davis as well. It's not likely he'll get it.
