2016-17 NBA PLAYOFFS THREAD

Guys, just remember 1 thing when discussing a new idea or anything hypothetical with Cy, he will ALWAYS take the most ridiculous side of the argument and he challenges himself to WIN THAT ARGUMENT.

I think he gets off of doing it.

Guys, just remember 1 thing when discussing a new idea or anything hypothetical with OL, he will ALWAYS take the most shallow side of the argument and just repeat it over and over again without thinking about it so he can WIN THAT ARGUMENT.

I think he gets off doing it.

So I guess Adam Silver is shallow too for wanting a hard cap?

The idea that a hard cap fixes anything is short sighted. It would also never be approved by any player and would be impossible to deal with unless all contracts only became partially guaranteed.

No max contract is what helps fix things. And you know small market teams love the LT too, right? You think those owners don't love those revenue sharing checks that the high spenders pay?

Wrong.

“I would say it’s no secret that we went into collective bargaining seeking a hard cap,”

"So, for the long-term health of the league, we would rather do more to level the playing field among our teams, so the teams that have disparate resources are all competing with roughly the same number of chips so to speak.”

A small market team has to overpay to get a free agent

a hard cap exist

That team is now ****ed for a long-time because of having a bad contract under a hard cap.

What do you think would happen without a draft?

There's a reason it's always the same 5-6 clubs bidding on the Cuban/Asian players in MLB.
