Marc Stein: Miami just as big of threat as Boston for Hayward

You guys are also forgetting that he has a family, so it will depend on what his wife wants as well. Miami is a very good destination for them in my opinion.

Yeah, I've heard mothers of young children really appreciate the humidity/mosquitos/crime aspects of living in Miami.

I'm starting to get a little nervous. Locke, who often seems to be the weather vane about what's going on behind the scenes, now is pushing very hard that utah is obviously the best place for hayward, but stating that we are at a "disadvantage". Man. If Hayward leaves it's going to be hard to care about the NBA for a while.

I see this kind of thing a lot. Utah people call every other destination "crime ridden" as if that's a factor and that there is no place beside utah safe to raise a family lol. Hayward no matter where he signs will move his family to a very nice, safe gated community.

And I'm sure he will never roam outside of his gated community. I have lived in a dozen different places across the country, so I have a pretty good idea of how SLC compares to other cities. I currently live in the Portland area.

Miami is a place where they had to change laws about rental car license plates, because people were being targeted as possible tourists who might have a lot of money on them, and some were being murdered. There is no question that affluent people are much more likely to be targeted in/around Miami than in Utah.

Miami also has a history with high drug traffic, which brings with it a higher crime rate.

Miami weather is basically perfect during the basketball season, which is when they would live there.

How many places have you lived, CY? You're from the south right?

Obviously there are a lot of nice things about Miami, but like I said, the humidity/bugs/crime are definitely a considerable detraction for people who are used to living elsewhere.

6 different houses in Louisiana doesn't count as 6 different places.

Anyway, a better point is that some people don't mind the humidity as much as others. Even if Gordo doesn't mind it, a lot of women in particular really hate high humidity, especially if they are used to living some where more arid. If you have young children, high humidity is just one more thing to make them fussy.

1. They are from Indiana. Its very humid there also
2. The basketball season is mostly in the fall and winter and Miami is one of the places to live for weather during those seasons.
3. They can live somewhere else in the summer. They own houses in LA and Utah.

Hayward did sign on to play in a place a lot less desirable, and just as humid, as Miami. That being said, I don't think I am very worried about Miami. Would you trade Gobert out for Whiteside?

Miami is a ****hole.
I LOVE miami.

Of course I have only been there in a tourist capicity but hot women, gym clubs and shops, great beaches and perfect temperature in the ocean, great weather, beautiful place.

I'm sure as rich person who could live in the best parts of Miami and do all the funnest things would absolutely love it.

I figure if I were super rich Miami would be right near the top of places I would want to live along with lake tahoe, grand cayman, and hawaii.
