What about Kyle Lowry?

I think he was really excited about signing with his home town team the 76ers but with Fultz (going to be drafted) on board he doesnt want to go there. Apparently he is tired of losing to Labron james every year and wants to come to the west. What realistic option could the Jazz offer that he would accept?

If he accepted less $$$ than what hill is asking, hop aboard!

I guess, if we don't sign Hayward. I could be wrong, but do we even have room for him if we sign Hayward? Also, he'd rather lose to the GSW's then LBJ?

Guys we don't have cap space unless Hayward leaves... if he leaves I'd be interested in younger guys or giving the keys to Exum.

We need to have a pinned thread with capitalized title "WE DON'T HAVE THE CAPSPACE FOR BIG FREE AGENTS, UNLESS YOUR TARGET WANTS TO ACCEPT THE MLE, THEY ARE NOT COMING TO THE JAZZ"

Teams have been known to clear cap space if there is someone they really want.

I don't see Utah doing that though.

We have to clear almost the whole roster. We need to clear about 55 million to get enough for Lowry max.

No thank you to Lowry. If we gave him max or near max, we would be regretting it halfway through the deal if not sooner. I would rather spend the same money to bring back Millsap than to sign Lowry. Millsap's game has another 4-5 years on it because it doesn't rely so much on athleticism. Once Lowry loses a step, he's worthless.

By my estimation we could conceivably open up roughly 23 million dollars (before re-signing Hayward & Ingles) in cap room if there was someone the Jazz were sure they could get that they thought was an improvement. Unless my cap knowledge is wrong (if it is feel free to correct me).

Right now we are roughly 15.8 mill over the cap. Renouncing the cap holds of Hill, Mack and Withey would give us 5-6 mill in cap space. Releasing Diaw (7 mill) would then give us 12-13. Then we would also have to dump Burks (10.5 mill) somewhere without taking salary back which would give us roughly 23 million to work with.

I don't want him. I'm a lowry hater

If Hayward leaves, I think Hill leaves too. At that point, I think that the Jazz should hand the reigns over to Exum, Hodd and Lyles and just live with the results - then try again next year when Favors and JJ come off the books.

This is great... more PGs changing teams... Hill should have taken the extension.

We have no room to sign him. We would have to gut our team pretty bad to make room for a max contract. If we did that it would only be for a big name player that is much more worth the max.

Although if/when Lowry leaves they will definitely be looking to trade DeRozan and will let Ibaka go. Derozan would be a solid trade for the Jazz depending on the asking price and how much the bidding get to. But Toronto has the advantage with him because they can hold out for a season or two before trading him if they dont get offered enough. His lack of three point shooting would require us to need a solid PG shooting threes and probably a PF. But he is a scorer, more so than Hayward and would take pressure off him. Although I doubt Derozan gets traded until after FA this year. I think they will try and bring the team back and make trades to improve before throwing in the towel.

If Hayward had DeRozan's usage rate he'd score 30 a game.

I dont know about that, maybe, but dont get me wrong I think Hayward is a better overall than DeRozan. But DeRozan is a good pure scorer. He can get you buckets almost any time. Hayward stepped up in the playoffs big time. But they are close to, or in the same tier of player and having another player of that caliber would help us a lot, especially in the playoffs.

FYI Haywards usage % was 27.6 to DeRozans 34.3. In the playoffs this year Hayward went up to 28.5% and DeRozan came down to 29.6. That is not that big of a gap. Per 100 possessions DeRozan averaged 39.1 points per game to Haywards 33.4. Hayward did out perform DeRozan in the playoffs this year.

Hill, DeRozan, Hayard and Gobert is a solid 4 players in the playoffs if healthy. I think that pushes GS and is the second best team in the West next year and if the landscape is the same the 2nd best team in the NBA.

Even if they blow it up, they don't trade DeRozan on that contract. They build around him. I'm really skeptical that Chicago seriously considers trading Butler this year. No reason to with his contract. Hoiberg is on the hot seat. Butler is an All NBA player. We couldn't wait to throw that money at Hayward. Indy couldn't wait to throw that money at Paul George. Clippers couldn't wait to throw that money at CP3. I'd be shocked if the Bulls get rid of their franchise player.
