General NBA Craziness and How it Applies to Utah

I should change my avatar from Homer Jazz fan to grumpy jazz fan today.

According to Jody G. Jazz looking to trade for a shooter....so they passed on Booker just so they can trade a bunch of picks to draft Kennard?

They had to have a pg so they got Trey Burke, they had to have a playmaking pf so they got Trey Lyles....Is it just me or do our jazz get locked in on a position at draft time?

Where are you seeing that they are trading a bunch of picks for Kennard? I do agree that they seem to get focused on specific skills or positions at draft time

I like the idea of drafting the best player available as opposed to giving up too much in assets. I'm fine with them drafting whomever DL likes but if they give up assets to move up and the player they draft doesn't work... that's what results in lots of losses. Moving up in this draft is going to cost too much and with such a deep draft I would rather take the B.P.A. It's one thing to move up and take someone with a high-probability of being solid ( like when we drafted D-Will) but Kennard has too many question marks. Your position theory is an interesting one though. I never considered it.

Sucks, but i will cheer for him wherever he goes and will be rooting for him. Great dude.

Stopped and signed my son's jersey at the warriors game... he was super excited.

It sucks if he's really gone. Favors is one of my favorite guys on the team as a player. Loves Utah and is super friendly. I met him at the airport once and we talked basketball for a solid 10 minutes or so and got a picture with him. He legit likes talking to fans and knowing how excited he makes his fans.
Like you, if he leaves I'll cheer for him wherever he goes

If only the jazz would have signed jared dudley a few summers ago.
Just imagine how good we would be.

we all know how trading up for a player worked for the Jazz last time. *cough burke

The Jazz have had a lot of success drafting in the later end of the draft. I hope they stay where they are.

Any thoughts on the target if we move into the lottery? I'd swoon for Monk but that seems very unlikely.

End of the day we might have a lottery pick and Beverley. I wonder what we've given up in such a scenario...

I was wondering this also. We got Hill for a year at $8,000,000 in a weak draft for #12. In a much better draft I'm assuming #24 for Beverley isn't terrible - especially if they want money to sign somebody else. Maybe they'd want a 2nd as well. Hard to tell. It depends on the other offers they're receiving.

Just trying to catch up with all this draft stuff.

So Jimmy Butler has been traded to Minnesota? I dont see what he was traded for. Anyone know? That is going to be a scary *** team.

Nm I found it. Wow that is a good trade for Minny.

Adrian Wojnarowski: Chicago is finalizing a deal to send Jimmy Butler to Minnesota for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and No. 7 pick, league source says.

Minny is going to trade away Rubio and pick up Hill or go after a bigger PG fish

Hill
Butler
Wiggins
Towns
Dieng

That is a scary scary starting lineup.

It is. But we got Mitchell and hopefully more via trade.

Sent from my VS995 using JazzFanz mobile app

Mitchell seems like a good pick and might help us win in 2-3 years when he develops. We need something now. I am guessing there is nothing Jazz had that Chicago would have wanted instead that package oustide of Gobert.

I wonder what deals have been offered for Favors.

Mitchell can defend. He isn't moving the needle much, but he looks like a guy who can give you plus minutes next year (off the bench, obvi).

So word this morning is indicating the FA market for George Hill may be evaporating.

Minnysota believes the pass-first Rubio is perfect to pair with Wiggins, Butler and Towns. They are looking for a back-up pg.

Dallas will not be chasing a high-level FA pg after drafting Dennis Smith Jr.

San Antonio? Maybe, but they have Dejounte Murray and added Derrick White last night. Perhaps they re-sign Patty Mills and wait for Parker to rehab.
