Hate this Asked my die hard Jazz fan friend to sell me on Lyles… this is what he gave me:
Here's why Jazz fans are so excited about this deal: Trey Lyles was a nightmare on the court by the end of last season.

What???? This is another terrible trade!….. Bad organization making another bad trade!

He is a nobody He couldn’t see the floor with Favors sidelined for 80% of the season last year. They gave a goddam shooting guard Joe Johnson minutes at Power Forward before him.

We traded for a guy that we already know will not be a star. Could he turn into a starter? Sure. But with everyone around us in an arms race and everyone here wanting playoffs next year, I’m not okay with this trade.

and here we go again**why on earth would we take Lyles at expanse of lottery pick (even that late)

Lyles is not that bad player but he is not high upside talent either...beside don't forget that we have bad experience dealing with Jazz (last time we lost Gobert for bag of chips)

Donovan Mitchell ended up #7 on my "big board". Hopefully this doesn't end up like another gobert situation with us and Utah

Wow bad pick. Mitchell for lyles and lydon might look REALLY bad in like 5 years. How'd we let Utah get us again?

Did Lyles have a big game against Denver that I don't remember?

I remember a game at the end of the 2015-2016 season where Lyles started and had like 25 points against Denver on a very high percentage from the field. It was the night before the game against Dallas at the end of the season that cost us a playoff spot.

Denver clearly wanted somebody else at 24. Probably OG but he was already gone to the Raptors. So Lydon was kinda a panic selection I guess... Makes no sense picking Lydon when they've already got Lyles. One of them will probably be playing the Trey Burke role at Washington next year

But didn’t they still have the option to nix the trade at that point?

The thing that makes no sense for them is they have better combo forwards and a lot of guys whose best position is the four. They also have a quantity problem. I wonder if they could hear DLs smile on the phone when he hung up

So happy Lyles is gone.

Nice cool guy but what a bust. Sorry, I just dont see a way he plays a key roll on any playoff team.

Why on earth would you hate the Nuggets? What have they ever done to deserve hate?

How long have you been on this board, pumpkin? Everyone knows as a Jazz fan, you hate the Lakers, Nuggets, and Rockets. Also we hate common sense and logic, but that's another story.

I really don't understand Denver.

Hermangomez is better than Lyles. Jokic is kinda bad at defense, and Lyles is awful. If they start Murray, they'll have the worst defense in the league.

I remember the Melo, Martin, Smith nuggets and I hated them. Just behind the Lakers and Rockets. That's cooled last few seasons but they can still kick rocks.

Mostly just disdain now.

Call me crazy but I like the trade for both teams...I thought it was very balanced.

Trey has potential, but he did need a change of scenery, it was clear his relationship with Quin was toast. I think with playing time in a different offensive system he can develop. Not sure if the defense will ever be incredible, but trey will play in the league for ten years.

That Dallas game also cost me $900 dollars. And I was there in the best seats I ever had (4th row) to watch the devastation first hand.
Rudy got hurt, burks spent the game riding a stationary bike right by me.

Grrr
