What's new

Ok...Now what?

Legit question I don't know the answer to. Do the results in this offseason (so far)change any of the narratives the Jazz told their fans?

1-Word is out on Quin Snyder and players want to play for him.
2-Players want to play with a defensive player like Rudy Gobert.
3-Agents want their players to play for the Jazz because of the development staff.
4-Mature players like the stability of the organization.

Give Rudy Gobert every opportunity to become like Shaq.
Give Dante Exum every opportunity to become like Penny Hardaway.
Drop down to 37 wins for a season.
Draft a young stud like Hamidou Diallo, or see if the NBA has enough sympathy for us to give us a top lottery pick.

All of the above took a hit when their best player just up and walked away.

No. I don't think that it has tbh. If Brad Stevens was coaching in college, I think that Hayward probably stays. It seems like everyone in Utah talked about Hayward going to Boston to play for Stevens. . . but nobody was actually prepared for him to do it. I'm surprised by how unprepared people are to deal with this. If anything, I think all of the negativity and vitriol coming from fans hurts the reputation of the franchise. Oh well. Things will settle down and people will move on with their lives. Rudy and Donovan will attract someone to join them at some point.

Hayward was an iron man for us last year (Gobert more so). This is going put the team in a hole. The reality is that we can't sign anyone to fill the void Hayward left. There are only two options - internally and a trade. A trade is not guaranteed, so I would be beating the internal development and we all contribute drum really hard.

And I would look at all lineup possibilities. Perhaps unorthodox ones. Dante as a three? Yes - why not? He would need to get stronger physically and mentally, but has speed to be a good one. Hood as Gordon's replacement - yes, he could do it in streaks, just get stronger and more consistent - man up fast! Ingles as primary scorer - needs to work increasing speed - I would recommend Kaatsu training used by martial artists to increase type 1 muscle fiber speed. Joe Johnson? If he can handle the minutes he would be the perfect solution, but he is too valuable in the playoffs to wear him down. Bolomboy, increase your wing skills, reaction time, and dribbling and I can see a player who can overpower other threes down low, and can shoot the three. But not sure if he can switch from being a banger to a multiskilled player who can do it all on demand in a blink of an eye - it is too easy to read him before he does something, he is thinking everything through and it seems to slow him down. If he could, then heck yes!

You think Ainge did out of spite for the Jazz, to rub it in further? Crowder was the obvious choice to trade because Hay was taking his place not Bradley's.

Unless they think they can smooth the rift between the team and Crowder. That's what I would do. Avery and Smart are both much more expendable than Crowder is on that contract. Think it's funny that Morris is the best value he could get back. Morris blows. Celtics fans should be pissed.

I think people are blowing the "rift" out of proportion.
