Summer League Notes And Discussion

Also seeing all the posts about "x and y" on the various teams makes me really wish that the Mitchell and Exum who was in Vegas.

I've only seen a few Tatum highlights. Is he pretty much just a ball-stopper/ISO player on offense? If so, it may be tough for him to contribute much to a winning team initially.

That's pretty much how they are using him right now, yeah.

I know Mitchell really struggled shooting, but he still showed me something with his approach to the game. He was doing everything he could to try to get theJazz back in the game. Loved his drive. He won't shoot like that in the NBA. He will pick his shots much better, and more importantly he will use that drive in the defensive end, just like we saw against Boston.

Yep. I'm almost done with Mitchell being there too. He's intense and Chase's everything.
We've all confirmed in watching 4 summer league games (actually just needed 1) what DL was saying about Donovan - and what Mitchell was saying about himself. He's a balls-to-the-wall defender who admittedly needs some work offensively.

Give Spida a week off to vacation with the family, then tell him to report for duty with Johnnie Bryant. Now that Bryant has lost "he who must not be named" as his personal assignment, Bryant can work full-time with Mitchell. A month of dedicated work, another week of family time and then it's back for training camp.

I'm "all-in" on Mitchell. This is essentially a "throw-away" season. It's one of discovery. Can Hood be a scorer? Is Exum worth keeping? Will Mitchell show that he can be an eventual starter? Will Favs be healthy? Can fences be mended with him or is he dealt at the deadline? What about our forgotten man, Alec Burks? Can his trade value be "rehabbed"?

All good suggestions. I'd be perfectly happy with this approach to developing Donovan Mitchell this season.
