What's new

What happened to Derrick Favors at the age of 25 and can he bounce back?

Yes they would, but please tell us why the hell we would do it?
Because Mirotic is a good stretch 4 the same age as Gobert with upside. He had a down season but there is plenty of reason to believe it is because of the bad environment the bulls were last season. He could be a perfect pf to pair with Gobert that is actually attainable.

Looking back at Favors' career statistics, he was a borderline all-star at 23 and 24, then suddenly experienced a huge drop-off last year at 25. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/f/favorde01.html

What happened, and what would it take (is it even possible) for him to return to his previous level?

While I truly hope I am wrong, I suspect his body has prematurely aged on him. Gets injured too easily and takes forever to recover. Started the previous season when back spasms kept him out of about 800 games, way more than normal. What a bonus it would be if he really bounces back to be what he was or even better.

That would be amazing. I've been waiting to see that since the end of the 2014/15 season.

Favs was a very good dunker in traffic before his injury issues last season. He doesn't square up with the hoop instead he almost goes into the dunk with his body sideways and with two hands. It's one of my favorite parts of his game.

Only chance of getting Mirotic is if he takes the QO and the Jazz sign him in 2018

Yeah, maybe. Mirotic has drawn interest from reports but has yet to meet with any team besides the Bulls. I am surprised he is not out trying to get an offer. He must just really want to stay in Chicago or they must be really close on what he wants money wise.

According to DL, Favors is FINALLY healthy and looks the best he's looked in a year-and-a-half. I had posted the interview video in the summer league thread yesterday.

Hope so, but at the beginning of training camp last year Locke said Favors looked great and was in the best shape out of everyone. It went south quickly.

I'm the biggest ****ing Lindsey homer on here but according to him, Exum looks remarkably improved (Not! [Borat voice]), he felt good about Hayward coming back (Not!), and Favors looked good during last summer (Not!)...

So yeah, I'll believe it when I see it.

Well put. Agreed.

Is it me or does Favs look slimmed down and in great shape?
