We are out of the running for Simmons assuming that we don't trade Boris Diaw.
So, we could offer Boris Diaw to any number of teams looking for cap space for a draft pick... and then sign Simmons. But I think that we are planning on keeping that $$$ for next season after we evaluate what we have. That's my guess. Simmons is older than probably a young SF that we may covet a la Jaylen Brown.
I think that veterans don't necessarily fit with what we are currently being forced to do post Hayhole....

Pelton does actually mention him for the Jazz in his 10 best free agents left and considering I brought him up a few days ago it seems destined for him to be a Jazz man.

I think his contract and game are in a sweet spot that allowed him to get traded because some teams wanted him but he wasn't so valuable that he required a high asking price. I think he'd still be in Detroit if Orlando would not have decided to dump Harris for no good reason.
I haven't looked at the different trades but I think the philly and OKC trades were financially motivated. Philly getting splitter who's contract is covered by insurance but he still counted on the books to get them to the floor.
At a one or two year deal around 5M per I think he's an asset.
