2017 Annual JazzFanz Current Players NBA Draft

I found an article from a year ago that had stats that proved the Clippers were a better defensive team with Jordan off the floor. Watch the tape man.

During the 2014-2015 season, that would be correct.

Since then, the Clippers have been better, offensively and defensively, with him in the court.

I would check your research.

For reference, last year, Clippers were 14.3 pts/100 better with Jordon on compared to off. Pistons were 12 points/100 worse with Drummond on versus off. That's a difference of 26.3 pts/100.

Don't tell me they're statistically the same. They're not.

Consider first some team context. The Clippers are almost exactly league average as a per-possession defensive team, ranking 15th in the league per NBA.com. This isn’t a death sentence to a DPOY candidate by itself (one of our top five candidates below plays for a team that’s slightly worse than this for the season), but the player in question had better be something quite impressive on the defensive end to warrant inclusion if his team isn’t among the league’s top 10 or so. Here’s the thing, though: Jordan isn’t that impressive as a defender. Blocks are nice, but they have an unfortunate tendency to often overrate defenders given the fact that, until recently, they were one of the only available statistical measures of a player’s impact.

This is what’s happening here, and a particularly egregious case of it at that. The largest piece of evidence? Jordan’s own team is better defensively when he sits on the bench than when he plays. That’s right, the Clippers allow a 103.7 rating with DeAndre and a 102.3 rating when he’s off the floor.

lol

I like the Drummond pick. Thought that he was great value at that point. Would've considered getting in on Otto Porter just to add a starting level SF, but I'm happy with Favors as my PF. That spot was getting thin also. If Favors has a bounce back year he's going to get a lot of attention this year.

And Javale was asked to do basically nothing from the bench (9 mpg) while playing on a team more loaded than any team in this draft. I'm assuming you're hoping for much more from Drummond.

It's hilarious that you said that about Curry too. He's one of the best if not the best offensive playmakers in the league.

As far as per game averages they are and again who does Drummond have on his team? I know for damn sure it isn't anyone near Paul or Griffin.

I thought I made the following post already but am having computer issues and don't see it here so I'll post it again.

I love how Sty talks out of both sides of his mouth. A little over a month ago he was saying how Iggy is breaking down. Now though, he refers to him as en elite perimeter defender and mentions his Finals MVP.

Ruflz. ****ing clown.

I thought he was. But it turns out he was just conserving himself for the Finals to guard Lebron.

The Pistons are 10 points worse w/ Drummond on the floor this past year. That is what is LOL.

You citing some stats from a couple years back (or possibly mid-season stats, idk) is laughable, especially when the difference was only -1.4.

If you are laughing at that, what do you do to Drummond?

You can't say a damn thing about on/off stats when Drummond is the biggest perpetrator.

Keep twisting them words man. Curry is a great enabler of offense, but he's not someone who makes all the offensive decisions for his team, and Drummond making his own offensive decisions has consistently been bad news with the Pistons. Obviously Curry is a huge upgrade and he'll do considerably better than with the Pistons, that still doesn't mean it's his optimal role.
