2017 Annual JazzFanz Current Players NBA Draft

Agree. If I hadn't known who he was talking about, I would've thought he was describing JJ

JJ is almost 4 years younger, played different positions most of the year and played different roles on very different teams. But no I also would not pick up JJ in a pool of players this small. He can make a few big shots here and there and maybe is a good locker room guy for young players but unless its a pretty small role I would not want him on my 10 man rotation in a 16 team league with better options out there.

But for comparison JJ had a higher TS%, lower usage rate, much higher win shares off and def, much higher vorp, better obpm, dbpm and obviously bpm, passed the ball more and more effectively. This was also on a playoff team not a garbage team like Dallas was where someone had to get some stats.

Didn't he mostly play the 4 after the allstar break?

I think you play Dirk <25 mpg and you got a pretty good bench player. His defensive and rebounding metrics were some of the best of his career this year because he played less minutes. The only thing that has really changed about him is his ability to draw fouls and get to the FT line.

His midrange and above the break 3pt shooting is still elite for big men.

Looking back at his shot charts for the past 5 year the most interesting thing is that Dirk never got on the corner 3 fad.

JJ also played on the far superior team and had more help.

Again its okay but a terrible shot choice. His other shots are horrendous and is overall shooting is in the bottom 1/4 of the league even compared to people who shoot jump shots.

Shooting 43% from mid-range is like shooting 29% from the 3. Except it's even worse because it doesn't help your spacing.

So even saying it's 'okay' is too big a concession in this ridiculous argument.
