2017 Annual JazzFanz Current Players NBA Draft

Shooting 43% from mid-range is like shooting 29% from the 3. Except it's even worse because it doesn't help your spacing.

So even saying it's 'okay' is too big a concession in this ridiculous argument.

Then no one should ever shoot a midrange shot and just become the Houston Rockets.

And the ability and willingness to shoot midrange shots does help spacing. If no one had to respect the the threat of a midrange shot, it becomes much easier to cover a team.

I remember a game back when Burke was still on the team. I remember them saying during a game that he was in the top ten in mid range % in the entire league at 45%, so is 43% really that bad? Dirk does help with spacing with his reputation alone.

It isnt bad. It's very good for a big. No one is leaving Dirk alone and just letting him shoot. Saying Dirk shooting, even when he takes midrange attempts, doesnt help spacing is absurd.

Just stop. 43% from mid-range, which is his primary shot, is not a good number from a point-per-position perspective. You know this. I'm not sure why you're even playing these mental gymnastics.

LMAO. Facts be damned.

Facts? We are bringing up a stat that factors in FTA as evidence to his shooting ability for some reason.

The facts are he was a 38% 3pt shooter last year and has a reputation as one of hte best shooters of all time. But you want to act like Dirk isnt helping with spacing cuz he takes some midrange shots?

Do you even watch basketball? Just because basic analytics say the midrange shot is the worst shot value wise doesnt mean it isnt an important shot.
