Otto Porter Jr?????

trying.too.hard

sorry I am waiting for my schooling to start and I am bored to death so I am learning about the CBA. It is doable. If i was the pelicans and I say cousins was going to go sign in washington I would work a SnT for Gortat and get some draft picks in return. Then I would fleece Boston for every asset they have for Davis. Start a rebuild but with a ton of draft picks to do it.

cool.. not gon happen tho..
However, Jazz ARE about to sign LBJ.

Agree with Jones. As long as we are pondering unrealistic scenarios, let's start with LeBron James. Actually, with LeBron being a UFA next year, he might be more realistic than OP Jr.

Too make it even more impossible, Washington wouldn't want to do this trade until next off-season so they could set up all the moves and guarantee they would happen. If they waited til the summer (like they would pretty much have to unless they want to take a huge risk) then Utah wouldn't have the expiring contracts to get Otto Porter and the trade wouldn't even be possible given Washington's needs.

How's about not overpaying for the Purple Otter Pop but instead we just sign a free agent SF? Right...

Welp... I just looked over the options for a game changing SF. The only options out there that I can see that would be potential upgrades to Hood are Wiggins and Parker. I think Wiggins gets his payday in Minny. But then again, they haven't closed the deal yet.

Jabari seems the most likely option but both are RFAs. Milwaukee may think twice about matching a big offer given his knee issues and the Jazz should think 20 times about offering him big $$$ for the same reason. There was an article about this before. He makes a lot of sense for us methinks... so long as he signs for less, Mil doesn't match, and he stays healthy. Lots of if's.

The last option is to spend on a free agent OR pickup a draft pick we can develop quickly. This is much more likely for our squad IMHO.

Leave that Otto Von Pop alone. Keep Hood and bring his Dukie teammate back.

The Jazz no longer have cap-space to sign starting level players who they don't have bird rights on.

We can't sign him this year. Not now. We have a number of expiring contracts going into free agency in 2018:

Joe Johnson $10,500,000
Thabo Sefalosha $5,250,000 (Non Guaranteed)
Jerebko $4,200,000 (Non Guaranteed)
Udoh $3,360,000 (Non Guaranteed)
Favors $12,000,000
Neto (Qualifying offer)
Hood (Qualifying offer)
Exum (Qualifying offer)
Bolomboy $1,500,000 (Non Guaranteed)

So you are saying that with all of those expiring contracts at the end of this year we are over the cap? Is there something I don't understand here? We are talking about 2018 here, not 2017. If we could lock up Parker and Hood and lock them both up for $17,000,000ish per do we do it? We would probably not keep 3 of the 4 of Jerb, Udoh, Favors, and Thabo. But that's about the situation we will be in in 2018. Not OVER the cap.

Yes, and the only way it's possible if the Jazz do it the trade now. They can't do the trade next summer and have it work at all.

If your goal is to cut salary through trades so you can sign a guy in the summer, you have to get expiring contracts. So your trade idea becomes 100% impossible rather than just highly improbable.

If they signed Exum for 3 years $30 mil that would would leave about 18 mil approximately to sign either Favors or Hood. Udoh could also be cut and also neto

What is it with Jazzfanz and hyping young players who have shown they don't have any future? Name me one raw talent who has been hyped that turned out to be anything more than a role player. Don't say Gordon Hayward because he wasn't raw.

I guess this is why they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I see a future with Dante.
