Burke's career path becoming more clear, better than getting kicked around time after time

That seems to be his strategy for later picks, or when there isn't an obvious choice. He kinda did the same thing with Bradley. Bradley was expected to be a top 10 pick next year if he stayed at college.
At least with Bradley we heard another team was hot for him (SA). There were very few rumors about Lyles. And he definitely was never mentioned as possible top-10 if he stayed in college. Lyles' demeanor was so much more immature than other players his age. Definitely high risk/high reward and Lindsey guessed wrong.

It was speculated he was signed just so they would have his rights for the G League. He goes from making millions/per to what, $25K in the GLeague? Trey might be able to make more as the fry chef at McDonald's. Rhonda must be so proud. I wonder if she'll start complaining if he isn't named sub of the game for the Westchester Knicks.

75k

Training camp contracts have a 50k signing bonus then the gleague contract is 25K.

He was a lottery pick. He probably has money.

Ah, forgot about that $50K bonus. Thanks for the correction. It does make it more manageable for some of these guys to stay in the US for $75K vs. the $25K previously. And most of the 2-way guys have likely been promised 45 days - or close to it - on a team's NBA roster in order to make their money.

As for Trey having $ in the bank, I'm sure he does. Ronda probably gives him a very small allowance and has put the rest in a "rainy day" fund. Helicopter Mom knows he'll soon be unemployed.

I'm pretty sure he was, though. I think the Bradley and Lyles picks were made with the same idea that they were snagging a player early that hadn't been in a position to be noticed yet.

I remember something about the Knicks considering taking lyles at #4 or something. Huge red flag tbh.

Wonder why the Knicks cut him with barely a tryout? Maybe they told him he'd have to play in the G-League and he refused.

The Knicks can now have his GLeague rights as an affiliate player. If he signs a GLeague deal, he plays with NY's team and gets a $50K signing bonus. SO $75K total, IINM (and thanks to Cy for reminding me of the bonus).

I detested the Lyles pick, but he was drafted around where most mocks had him. So was Burke to be honest. Neither were reaches, just awful picks.

Jazz drafted Alec Burks, drafted Trey Burke, drafted Trey Lyles, traded Trey Burke, traded Trey Lyles, and now only Alec Burks remains who is finally healthy again (knock on wood)

I hated the Lyles pick. Him looking good for stretches made his dog**** last season here all the more frustrating. At least the Jazz were able to somehow turn him into something (Mitchell).
If the jazz hadn't drafted Lyles, maybe we don't have DM today. Sounds like a great pick to me.
lyles' twitter post after haywood **** still pisses me off. **** that dude
