Republican politicians scrambled into damage control mode after The Washington Post reported on Thursday that Roy Moore, the Republican nominee for Alabama senator, initiated a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl in 1979 and pursued relationships with three other teenage girls.

Alabama State Auditor Jim Zeigler called the claims in The Post report "much ado about nothing," even if they are true.

"Take the Bible. Zachariah and Elizabeth for instance. Zachariah was extremely old to marry Elizabeth and they became the parents of John the Baptist," Zeigler told The Examiner. "Also take Joseph and Mary. Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus."

Another Alabama lawmaker, Marion County GOP chairman David Hall, joined Zeigler in dismissing the claims in The Post's report.

"It was 40 years ago," Hall told Toronto Star reporter Daniel Dale. "I really don't see the relevance of it. He was 32. She was supposedly 14. She's not saying that anything happened other than they kissed."

Fox News host Sean Hannity dismissed allegations against GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore Thursday after several woman told The Washington Post that Moore had initiated sexual relations with them while they were in their teens.

Speaking with Lynda McLaughlin on his radio program, "The Sean Hannity Show," Hannity said he doubted whether or not the allegations made against the Senate candidate and former judge were true.

Hannity began his comments by citing conspiracy theories about the GOP wanting to discredit Moore. "You've got the establishment and they hate Roy Moore. Roy Moore, to them, is another Ted Cruz, another Mike Lee, somebody they can't control ... It's a he-said, she [said]," Hannity said.

Hannity also insinuated that the allegations made by the women were false, saying "there are false allegations made," and asking "Do some people do it for political reasons?"

According to the allegations reported by The Washington Post, a woman named Leigh Corfman said that when she was 14 years old, Roy Moore, then 32, initiated a sexual encounter with her.

Hannity's co-host defended Moore against the allegations by claiming the sexual relationship Moore had with 14-year-old Corfman "was consensual," to which Hannity agreed.

this has nothing to do with left or right. on the left people are also ok with it. left wing women on the view defended that rapist roman polanski!

sotp making this a left vs right issue. i don't know if i can post a video of the view talking about what roman polanski did.

so stop with this stupidty.

both sides has evil men. the left had hitler, the right has timothy mcveigh

also roy moore said transgenders have no rights!

i say nobody has rights only rights everybody has are 4 rights
live, liberty, the right to acquire property and the right to self preservation. last time i checked trans people all had those rights.

but should certain people be "banned" from the military!

yes they should. now hear me out. if a trans gyu comes to the military and passes al physical and mental test. he should be allowed to serve. but nobody has the right to join the military.

because the military has 1 goal train to kill or be killed. if you cant pass the test do not lower the test requirements because people have the right to join the military.

i like to think that i would pass any branch of the militaries bootcamp and requirment. but i also know their are trans-people and women who run faster than me, lift heavier things than me swim better than me etc etc etc. they could pass all those bootcamp requirments while i can not. so they have "right to join maybe navy seals and i do not!

i'm just syaing.

not defending roy moore. dont know if he "raped" those kids, i wanst their or involved and have not seen the proof. but him saying transgenders have no right might be taken out of context

Dem party honchos/schemers work just as hard to dig the dirt on opponents as they work to cover up and hide dirt on their own.

I don't givadam if the judge has five wives or fifty hos in his retinue any more than the dem agogues care about the use of cigars in the Oval Office.

A self-professed "Christian" judge who sees ACLU arguments against religious free speech in the public square as odious, particularly when the dems are so stridently defending Muslim Brotherhood fascists' claims that Sharia law transcends the US Constitution's prohibitions against government establishments of religion.

I might not care for some "Christian" views such as God being the kind of "creator" who can make something outta nothing, or that Biblical chronology is fundamental to the teachings of Christ, but I do think the dems are just putrid stinks the way they pump the dry well of media hype and fake news, and that is all the crap on Moore amounts to.

Period.

If Moore quits the race, good riddance. I don't want any more phonies like Sessions in the ranks of today's "defenders" of Constitutional principles.

What’s happening is beyond politics and partisanship. It’s a culture shift. The end of ding dongs doing whatever they want whenever they want. Ray Moore, Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Bill O’Reilly, Roger Ailes, Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Louis CK, Leon Wieseltier, Mark Halperin, are a diverse group of mad men and just the tip of a melting iceberg.

Everything has become tribal where our partisan politics is concerned. Just as Trump really could go out on a street in New York City, shoot someone, and his base would still support him( he said that during the campaign, not me, lol), so Moore will get elected if he stays in the race. Too many people are at a tribal level. If he or she is on your side, your tribe, it doesn't matter what secrets their past holds. At least that's how I read all of this...

Aww, but he has a huge "gotcha" to share in the D vs R game.

D's might win the division this year... and next!

But crickets from thriller when Kevin Spacey was revealed to be a predator of underage boys.
