Gobert out for 4-6 weeks

Can it really be that serious? Rudy did go back in the game and it didn't appear to be bothering him. Probably just being precautionary. Maybe setting up a trade? They can always play Udoh at center and have good rim protection.

Trade for Gobert? Don't be an idiot.

its setting up favors for a trade and it's setting us up for better draft position.

the latter is more likely lol.

Time for us (and the rest of the league) to see what Favors is worth.

This is true. The other thing is that much of this game they weren't even playing a legit big guy. They went small, and Favs rightly made them pay. None of that means he is near as valuable as Gobert. This next stretch could really increase Favors value in a trade scenario, though. If he plays really well maybe the Jazz can actually get something for him. If I'm the Jazz I feed him.

If we're being honest with ourselves, this means that Favors is going to raise his trade value. Rubio is going to make him look good. It's likely the Jazz will lose Favors for nothing at the end of the season if we don't trade him.

So if Gobert is out for a while and Favors gets traded, this becomes a tank season. The other one-year guys like Jerebko and Udoh come into play as well.

This is my prediction ... Favors blows up , like real big. Jazz fans will begin to like the Jazz offense with Favors more than Gobert. Favors will avg near 20 and 10 until Rudy comes back

Sure. And if not for the significant incompatibility of Favors and Gobert (on a roster featuring a non-threat at PG), I would definitely want to keep Favors around. He's a nice player.

But the facts remain that Gobert is a transcendent affector of the game and under contract and whose negatives become ever-apparent when he's paired with a traditional 4.

It's a tough loss, but I was intrigued to see how the team would work last night with Rudy out and I'm even more interested right now in seeing whether Snyder encourages them to play faster, which is something I've really missed these first 3 weeks. Hopefully he does and it also translates when Rudy comes back, cause that's the best chance the Jazz have at getting something out of their offense this year.

Not great news, but I think it makes some things clearer for Lindsey.

Now Lindsey can work to trade some of his short term contract guys for assets.

Bring on Tony Bradley.

This season sucks.

I agree. However I have had to already temper my expectations. If Gobert's injury allows some other players to get a rhythm and their confidence back the Jazz may be better in the long run. It may force the other players to not rely Gobert to bail them out as much on D.

I like this. Give Tony Bradley some game time and see what he can do. What's there to lose?
