Gobert out for 4-6 weeks

Not really. Every year there a good or great players drafted outside the lottery.

Yeah you might be able to find diamond in the rough... that's a possibility.

But like this year if you have the 27th pick you've ruled out your chance at Fultz, Tatum, Ball, Smith Jnr, Markkanen.

That's a certainty.

That makes more sense. It'll definitely raise his value. I don't know if anyone will pay for half a year of Favors.

If purse strings are tight next year, then a trade that lands his Bird rights now put whatever team trades him in the drivers seat to keep him. One of the major reasons I wanted the Jazz to seriously pursue trading for PG13 or Jimmy Butler over the last year. Time to sell your team vision + Bird Rights are still valuable commodities.

Sure, but I don't see the Jazz being bad enough to tank since Gobert is only out 4-6 weeks. Just don't feel like rooting against the Jazz just so we can get the 12th pick.

Jazz will still surprise some teams cause they will now play faster and Favors will be more comfortable in his natural position. We will win enough games to still be in the thick of things come January and everything will start to come together and we climb the ladder from there. Not that far fetched really as long as the Jazz continue to play hard and together like we witnessed against Brooklyn.

That’s true, but if it was that easy to identify those guys there would be a team absolutely stacked with them. The higher you pick, the better options you have available to you. Landing a top 7 pick doesn’t absolve your team of scouting, but picking outside the lottery also doesn’t mean that you can’t find a stud. Odds are severely stacked against that though.

I think the Cavs may.
It would never happen, but i'd love a trade that sent Favors, JoeJ and a pick to the Cavs for Love. The salaries match and it would give them defense/quality big men for another run at GSW + expiring contracts (in case they fail and LBJ bolts). Not to mention JJ is experienced and as clutch as they come in the playoffs. It helps us because Love is still a stud who could be our #1 option and pairs well with Rudy.

Wishful thinking..

The Jazz can make Gobert sit out longer.

GSW made Curry sat out nearly a whole season the season they tanked to get our pick and grabbed Harrison Barnes.

No way the Jazz make Rudy sit if he’s healthy. It’s not in any of their DNA. Closest the Jazz will get to tanking is playing their young guns more minutes than they deserve to see how they respond. So far, the results are mixed.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Mitchell, Hood and Bradley logging good minutes in expanded roles for the next month. Too bad Exum is out. This is exactly where we’d learn how far his development has come.

The fact he has been benched 4-6 weeks tells me the Jazz are not overly concerned about the playoffs. He was allowed back into the game just the other night after it happened, so I doubt its that serious.

Well we aren't making the playoffs... this was the stretch to come together and get wins... with us losing two very winnable games already... Gobert comes back after the December schedule has already eaten us up and then has to find a rythymn.

The only moral thing to do is tank the eff outta this B.

I think you are wrong, The Jazz have just hit a lil bump but we will still be a playoff team.

If the Jazz truly wanted to tank the answer would be trading Johnson and Favors and give Bradley 30 minutes a night

Doncic is gonna look good in that Jazz gold.

It is the wettest of wet dreams.

He is not going to be a typical rookie. He (as well as Donovan, Dante and Gobert) will get the team back to the playoffs next year and they will stay there for a very long time.

Someone needs to clobber, I mean completely obliterate, Waiters the next time the Jazz play the Heat. Sign some scurb to a 10 day contract and pay him a bounty or something.

4-6 weeks means he misses 15-22 games... takes another 3-4 games to get a rythymn... and we've see these types of injuries linger with other players.

We were already a fringe playoff team... we should go stealth tank for the long term health of the franchise.

Give Ricky the green light to shoot... give Favs some run to give a quick boost to his trade value. Move JJ attach AB to one of them if you can...

Get Doncic and we have a three headed monster.

Cleveland. They need a real 5 and a defensive boost.

They might be willing to part with the BKN pick in order to have a better shot against GS. A Shumpert/Favors swap works in terms of salary matching.

I'm sure someone else has said this but Cleveland will not trade that pick for anything.
