What's new

Is Favors in the long-term plans at this point?

No, it's a "club" option, meaning both parties have to agree to him staying for him to stay. He can leave if he wants to though. At least that's what I'm pretty sure it is.

He also has veto rights on any trade.

Club meanin team option... it’s a team option. I think you can have a mutual opt out but a mutual opt in is not something I’ve ever heard of. He’s basically an expiring. No one wants to pay his option next year... unless he keeps putting up 20 pts per game.

I do wonder if Mirotic gets traded to aid the tank... I don't think they pick up his option and if he keeps helping them win it really starts to hurt their tank... Lavine coming back soon may produce some wins too... they could move from 1 to 4-5 in the blink of an eye.

Here's a question - what's the chance by the end of the year(trade deadline) the league sees Wiggins' contract similarly to how they saw Oladipo's contract last summer? He is having a similarly disappointing season to what Oladipo had last year. Actually ... he's arguably worse and is on a larger and longer contract:

Would you be willing to put him in Quin's system as our SF of the future if he came cheap?

Why wouldn't they pick up his option? They have to meet the salary floor, which is the whole reason they gave him 13 million.

Uggh, I don't like Wiggins at all. I didnt like Oladipo either, but at least he could shoot and was a more committed defender.

I would, but I think there is almost zero chance they move him this offseason. Maybe next year at the deadline if they want to keep Jimmy instead.

Next year they may see more value in taking on dead salary and they have Lauri and Portis (and Felicio too I guess) signed long term. I get the feeling they would have moved him if they could have after the fight. Seemed like the team and locker room really backed Portis.

Don't get me wrong, it's hell of a risk because that contract has the possibility of looking really really ugly. You have to really believe that if you put him in our system with our players and our coaching staff he will develop and do better. IMO there is a high ceiling with him too so it would be a high-risk high-reward play for sure.

I think it is worth the risk to get Wiggins. He is still really young with a high ceiling. He has shown the capability to be really good he just needs to learn consistency and how to play defense.

He's young and may mature... he may also become the next Rudy Gay. I'm not sure how much he cares, but he'd be a worthy gamble. I just think they aren't ready to deal him yet.

I'd be shocked if they traded Wiggins, they're about to make the playoffs for the first time since the dark ages.

Also, reports are saying that Joe Johnson will be back this week, as well as Rodney Hood. I think we need to start them both and move Derrick and Rubio to the bench.

Starters: Mitchell, Hood, Ingles, Johnson, Gobert
Bench: Rubio, Burks, Thabo, Jonas, and Favors

I think that's a legit lineup.
