Central tank command : the official thread

Let's just stop with the Mitchell/Jordan comparisons. Jordan was arguably the best (or 2nd best) player EVER.

I'm just going to enjoy DM for who he is, for the life he's pumped into a team that had it's heart ripped out (from being potential contender to knowing they'd struggle to just make the playoffs). And for the love he gave the city and state from the day he first worked out for the Jazz. And now, getting respect from just about every superstar he plays against.

Have no idea if it will translate, but Stockton, Malone and Sloan never seemed to get the love that Mitchell, Gobert and Snyder get. Let's hope significant FA's will want to play for Utah (not talking stars, just very good players who will give Utah consideration, instead of the "you go play there" mindset).

As for the "tank," Utah will never intentionally lose. But i'm actually hoping the Jazz miss the playoffs and get a pick in the 10-12 range. Looking at mocks, i see some very good prospects who would be BPA's as well as potentially filling a position of need. Down in the 15-18 range, I see more wings listed, which the Jazz don't necessarily need...unless neither Hood nor Dante return and Burks is traded.

Its like a tug of war. Tank vs Playoffs. Back and forth, back and forth.

At the moment I can't tell which side is going to win, but I find the struggle entertaining.

The December schedule will win.
January will also be tough: 8 of 13 on the road. Not as many "elite" teams as December, but still some very tough games.

My prediction is Jazz go 2-5 for rest of December and 6-7 in January.
An overall record of 22-28 heading into Feb would definitely put some water in the tank.

Clips, Cavs, Nets, and Lakers are all 6 or more games under .500. The tank is dead. We can't move much lower than 12 and 10 or 11 is seriously unlikely.

Maybe the Clips can pass if Blake comes back, but I think they hold him out. The win streak buried the tank.

the Bulls though are in danger of going from 1st to 6 or 7th and that is just terrible for their future.

The tank lives!

Mitchell missing all of December really isn't a big deal. Jazz wouldn't be favored in nearly all of these games either way. I think Hood is ready to step up too. Think he has gained a lot of confidence lately.
