Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Would Wendell Carter be a good pick if we are sitting around 10 and can he be our stretch 4?

Impressive stats.

Per 40 stats (br doesn’t have per 36) are 21.8 points on 61.7% from 2 and 50% from 3 (albeit on just 0.9 attempts per but it shows potential given he’s only a frosh), 14.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 3.0 blocks, and 1.0 steal.

He's a 5 tho. I don't think he really has any potential as a 4. He's 260 and he doesnt even look all that built or overweight. Just one of those naturally big/strong dudes.

Good player, but just one of those dudes who the Jazz shouldn't even have on their big board unless they are picking late in the first and no one picked him up as a value pick.

The really interesting question would be what if the Jazz drafted 5th (probably the least likely position for them to draft in tbh) and Doncic/Bagley/Young/Porter are all off the board. Obviously Ayton at 5 is a ridiculously good pick, but not really for the Jazz. I can't imagine Ayton would be happy being a projectd backup for at least his first 3 years in the NBA.

What could the Jazz get for Ayton? If the Hornets were picking 10th, would they give up Kemba Walker and the 10th pick to draft Ayton (Jazz put in Rubio to salary match)?

They would, Jazz wouldn't. Kemba is a UFA in 2019.

Would they be willing to throw in more then? I just can't see the Jazz drafting Ayton, and there isnt anyone good enough to draft over him. Like throwing in Lamb and taking Burks back. I get that there is the recent George Hill wound of Jazz finally getting a good PG, he blows up in the system, then suddenly starts demanding crazy money wound.

Maybe a better scenario would be the Jazz trade Ayton to the Blazers for CJ McCollum?

Jazz throw in Burks/Rubio to match salaries and the Blazers give the Jazz an additional future 1st?

Or the Cavs w/ the Nets pick and Love? Cavs could also throw in Crowder. So Ayton/Burks for Love,Nets pick (let's say that ends up being 10th overall too in this scenario), and Crowder?

He would be a GREAT pick. U can't possibly go wrong with Wendell Carter, he's super-safe..

Also one of the youngest players in the draft. Impressive skill set at at 18 and a half.

He is going to pass the Jazz psychological profiling with flying colors too. He is a truly engaging personality, somewhere on the Karl Towns spectrum tbh. He was recruited to Harvard. Has a great demeanor.

Bruno Fernando on Maryland is trending quickly towards one-and-done status and honestly Maryland is gonna be hurting without him.. top-40 range..

This one is super easy cuz u guys will actually absorb this rather quickly;

Bruno Fernando is like Joel Bolomboy, except he's still gonna be 19 at the time of the draft.... its that simple... 6'10 long arms, strong, explosive, kinda pf/c ish but also he's got shooting touch and shoots 75% from the stripe. Career high 21 points today vs Iowa. He's from Angola which actually seems like it could be a good talent hotspot moving forward --- the 'first generation' players look very promising.....

History says it's very dangerous to make trades like this for tier 1 draft prospects like Ayton. It has to be a blow you away type scenario. Ayton at PF isn't ideal, but he is very quick for his size, more than current Favors. Much better jump shooter too, makes 48% of his jumpers. Now if it was Bamba instead of Ayton, probably would force my hand into trading him for a McCollum or Walker level player.

On the phenom alert front.. Few years back St. Johns had a player named Gods'gift Achuwia, well his younger brother Precious could be somewhere on the Kahwi Leonard spectrum of SF's, 6'9" monster set of hands, he shoots 3's, he dunks like crazy he can almost touch the top of the backboard already... Lemme drop a crazy quote for ya's...

“He’s a pro, there’s not much to say,” said Gray Bees coach Mark Taylor, whose team improved to 13-0. “He might be the best I’ve ever coached and I had Jay Williams, who was No. 2 in the draft, I had Tyler Ennis, No. 18, and Andrew Bynum, No. 10 in the draft. We’ve had other players make the pros
