What's new

There is a growing belief in league personnel circles that Utah could move swingman Rodney Hood befo

Hood doesnt bring enough anything else to be worth the money he seeks. Good shooter that has his moments, and pretty good clutch player....the end. Insignificant in the win/loss column, Jazz won't even miss him.
Yeah good shooters who play well in the PNR are just complete non-factors....

I mean, yes, Hood has his flaws, but to say he is insignificant in win/losses? What?

I think Hood and Favors are both 100% going to be traded and likely in the same deal.

Who knows on Burks. I'm sure they are trying to an extent, but it's probably not a priority.
If Burks doesnt get moved, Hood is gone and we have no need to win. We should play Burks 30mins a game for the rest of the season, let him finally get some consistent minutes, see what he can do, then move him in the offseason.

I agree both of those guys get traded. I also am almost positive JJ gets traded or at least waived I guess. I think they will try to trade Burks but they can wait until the off season.

Cy, I'm only an expert on my opinion. Hood can't/doesn't pass so while I can't deny that he can be part of a successful Pnr it isn't as one of the two main moving parts. I believe we will get someone better for the team when offensive and defensive value are considered (over Hood), simply because Hood occasionally is a sweet shootin lefty. Hood at $20m per will kill the team who pays it.

He has been in the top 75th percentile or higher every year he has been in the NBA at running the PNR. It's not an opinion.

I would be disapointed with this. If we just trade Hood to dump Burks or Rubio and a late first that is a bad trade. I would be happy to get one of those contracts gone but only getting a late 1st for Hood is a weak trade.

Only way I'd be happy with that is if we go after Tyreke Evans or Lou Williams, someone like that, in UFA and are able to nab them for a good price.

We shouldn't need to add any sweetener to move Burks imo, he doesnt work for Quin that fine but $10Mil for next year is far from the worst contracts in the nba.

If we dont move him before the deadline Quin needs to play him 25-30mins EVERY night. How long has it been since AB had consistent minutes/role?

Why do we need to play him that much if we dont move him? If he isnt good enough to earn minutes he isnt good enough. If we dont trade him at this deadline then we will be an expiring next year and easier to move.

1. Trading Hood for a first rounder is garbage, especially as nobody is giving us a decent first rounder.
2. Unless we get lucky with the ping pong balls, no way we have a top 10 pick unless Mitchell goes down.

I guess if Jazz had a target that they thought was attainable in FA I would be more okay with this but even then Hood is worth more than a late first round pick.

I am sure the offer would be matched but I guess the Jazz could offer Jabari or Gordon a contract.

I am also sure he wont even listen to the Jazz but I still wish the Jazz would try and go after a Durant in the off season. Even just to put the idea out there.

Hood will average 30+ for his career against the Jazz.

So 25% of the league is better?

25% of the people who qualify (ran enough of them). He is in the 82nd percentile this year, 76th last year, and 77th in this 2nd year. He was also one of the best PNR players in the NCAA his year in Duke.

Those are meh players to me. Lou is going to be 32 next year and not a good fit with this team. Tyreke is a little more interesting but he is going to be 29 next year and is going to get offered more than I think the Jazz should pay.

Because we arent trying to win so why not?

See what he can actually do with consistent minutes.

You don't think Lou is a good fit? He scores, knows Quin well, and can play on/off ball.

We have seen him get plenty of minutes. I think the Jazz know who he is.

I am also not convinced the Jazz are trying to lose yet. That might be what some fans want but that does not mean that is what the Jazz are doing. I would rather see Exum and Mitchell get minutes after the all-star break. I would also rather play and develop Royce and pretty much anyone else.
