I’m very much in favor of some sort of move. I want to at least see something by this deadline, it’s just not that easy. Most the league right now is a mess, so much is happening and so many teams want to make moves, I hope we get in on some. The Jazz have some issues, one of the biggest being Rubio. George Hill was an obivous reason why we won and lost quite a few games last year. We win when Rubio has a good night or at least compete. When Rubio has one of his bad nights (more often than not) we look like the bottom 5 teams in the league. I just don’t know how important Ricky is to Donovan right now. It sure seems like Donovan likes Ricky, gets support from Ricky, and learns from Ricky. So even though Ricky kills us at times is he too important to our guy who is basically the face of the franchise now compared to what we would get back which isn’t much for Ricky? I don’t know some type of move needs to be done and every move should ensure it is a move made to benefit Donovan and Rudy long term not just a short term bandaid on this season and next which probably won’t mean much. Tough world in the NBA right now, which is actually a benefit to the Jazz and DL and hopefully they can capatlize.

First of all we need to be patient and think about long-term.
I think Favors is unhappy and does not fit so him leaving and a stretch-4 starting would help everyone and mostly Gobert and Mitchell, so that's the only move we have to make short-term.
You can also feel there is a lot of tension around the team. Snyder's interviews are unusual. Something is going on, probably both in locker room and between FO - coaching staff. But we have no real media to report anything. DL should do something asap. I'd say just send Favors away, everyone knows he's leaving the Jazz this offseason anyway.
On the other hand signing some players mentioned around may tie our hands going forward. It's a stars league, we have two stars and one is on a rookie deal. We play terrible now but we have a bright future. We need to acquire a 3rd star, a strong offensive player ala Jabari Parker. That should be the main goal that everything should shape around. Other than that I'd be hesitant to pull the trigger unless an opportunity presents itself, e.g. an underrated/undervalued guy like Fournier who wants to play for the Jazz and is able to score 20 ppg becomes available. We'd not mind his contract, again we have a star on a rookie contract which helps tremendously financially. Mitchell - Fournier - Gobert + add a star either via draft/FA/trade, and we compete. I don't care about good players, sand how many of them we have.. depth means RS success only so everyone good is expendable.

Normally the Jazz are EXTREMELY tight lipped when it comes to trades and who they are actually trying to get. I was surprised when Dennis Lindsay advocated getting a 6'10 guy that can shoot the three ball well. I immediately thought of Niko, but I think his price is getting high. I think the Jazz are going to grab someone that we do not expect, but is silently on the block because it is unlikely he will be retained for money purposes (think of our version of Hood on another team)... someone like Noah Vonleh - someone the Jazz gamble on a bit, but could possible develop into a stretchy four.
Note: I am not advocating for this trade, per se. I am simply stating that I am normally surprised by Jazz moves. The organization hardly leaks or telegraphs what they are doing. I plan on being surprised.

I know it is very hard to make a trade. Much harder than I make it out to be. At the end of the day, these 3 guys are completely out of favor and are not long term options at our dear club.
Favors - for all the reasons we have been saying since Rudy emerged
JoeJ - our future is bright and we appreciate his service, but he doesn't stay unless he takes sweetheart vet deal like DWade at $1.4 million. I don't think we necessarily have to trade him, but sending him to a contender would be a nice thank you.
Burks - the guy only played last night because we were getting destroyed at Atlanta of all places. He is so far down the pecking order. If he was part of a "post-Hood" plan, he would have played more and featured the last couple games.
Others potentially out...
Rubio - I would like to trade him, but I'm not upset if we don't.
Hood - I'm okay trading him if the FO or Quin knows something we don't. The return needs to be a first.
Thabo - I don't want to trade him, but I completely understand if we have to since his $5 million expiring might be needed.
Ending analysis - Favors must be dealt for any future value. Burks can be dealt if there are any takers.

I don’t like the idea of trading guys just to get rid of them. What’s the point of trading expiring contracts for expiring contracts? That’s just moving pieces around a game board without any plan for how to win.
I’d rather see the organization pivot to reboot around Rudy Gobert. For me, that means chasing a starting 4 and a new wing to team up with Gobert/Mitchell, while figuring out how to move on from the 4 guys that fit the least - Favors, Burks, Rubio & JJ - and (hopefully) get some value out of their contracts in the process.
