Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

We didn't offer Hood. From Chicago reporters the rumor is Chicago wanted Hood, but the Jazz didn't want to give him up for Mirotic. And I agree. Hood should have higher value than disgruntled Mirotic demanding to be traded.

I agree but we will see what we end up with. If we don’t move Hood for a decent return I’d be upset we missed out on Niko.

NO kind of killed the Bulls in this thing lol. They would have needed to give away a first for the salary space anyway, but Chicago went ahead and gave them a nice trade asset for next season, as well as reportedly giving them a couple extra million more of cap relief.

The funny part is that the Pelicans almost screwed it all up by not wanting to have Mirotic for a second year.

They kind of showed their hand for this offseason too. If it looks like Boogie will come back then everyone knows they will want to offload Niko.

The nba trade market isn’t perfectly efficient either... so player x should have value y but unless you find a match with the right assets it doesn’t always work.

Oh well... who we gonna be fascinated with now.

Saric. Hood and Favors for Saric + Jerryd Bayless

Nah, I see them bringing back Boogie slowly by having Mirotic. Next year, they can probably dump Ajinca's expiring using 2nd rounders. They might be in the luxury next season, but they could wiggle out with creative deals.

This is a very smart trade by NOLA. They are doing their best to maximize both AD and Cousins.

I'm not sure I'd trust these reports. Why would Chicago want Hood that much? He plays the same position as Lavine. We've been reluctant to turn over the SF spot to him, so why should Chicago be sure about that? I'm sure they were more interested in Hood along with a first than Johnson with a first. But I'm fairly convinced that it was the first that they wanted above all -- not Hood for Niko straight up, or maybe not even Hood plus a second.

BTW this is not over for Utah and Mirotic. The Pels will need to clear that capspace at draftnight(or after July 1st) in order to be able to give enough money to Cousins. I fully expect the Jazz to be a player for Mirotic then. Second + stuff for Mirotic... or something of that sort.

Keeping Niko and DMC means LT... they can move or waive Ajinca but with a full roster of minimum dudes they looking at 135M and offloading 14 M won’t be easy... especially with an asset cupboard that is bare.

I’ve said as much and maybe they already discussed it during the conversations... Thabo and Jerebko could move on draft night for Niko and they could decline the options.

Maybe that is why they picked up the option because they knew they had a fallback.
