Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

Jazz have the next Jonathon Simmons (Royce O’Neale) who who is 3 and a half years younger, bigger, longer, is $4 million dollars per year cheaper, has his rights controlled by the team after that.

I can see the appeal of adding Simmons, but the Jazz simply don’t need him.

We could be involved here. Favors is an upgrade over Gortat and could provide much needed cap space next season.

Favors for Gortat, Frazier, Shelden Mac and their 1st? Washington almost gets out of the luxury with this deal.

You’re back to asking for peanuts again. The only deal I’m looking for is a top down one. Otto Porter can help us, but it’s not worth taking on Gortat’s last year for a late 1st round pick.

We look like one of the top 4 teams in the league right now. Why mess with that for anything less than a haul?

There is some real stuff to what we are doing right now and some fool's gold... I'm guessing we don't shoot over 50% from three the rest of the year.

Getting a first for Favs even though we have to eat some salary is fine. Gortat is a good useful player.

I'll take on gortats contract for Oubre.

I won't do it for a late first and favors. I would rather keep favors than dump him for a late first and take on a bad contract for a player we have 0 need for. We have an all NBA center, a cheap good backup and a young potential center.

The Cavaliers are in the talks about another trade. They have reached out to the Utah Jazz to inquire about trading for Ricky Rubio. (Via. @LegionHoops)

Too little too late. . . Ricky is playing well and seems to have unlocked his playmaking potential in Utah.

Plus, it would upset Donovan to lose him. You can tell that they’re close. Only see the Jazz making a deal for significantly more than they paid for him.

Wizards should call Dallas and do a Mejri for Gortat and a first swap... gets them out of the tax this year and likely next and they avoid the repeater tax.

The Cavs have nothing to offer for Rubio other than the Brooklyn pick, and they arent doing that.
I can't imagine what the offer would even be but it's nice to see him getting some love as a win now piece regardless. Been playing really well lately, this coming from someone who really disliked his game earlier in the year.

Hey, lets just give the Cavs Mitchell, too. Three weeks ago, i would have said hell yes to getting out of the additional year of Ricky's deal. Now I'm not only going to not use the Bricky term, I'm thinking he could be a critical part of the team even beyond next season. AND, he has a ton of respect for Quin. Brooklyn pick would be the price.

Sam Vecenie discussing the Trade Deadline with The Action Network's Matt Moore (Nuggets insider). At the 50 minute mark they are talking about the trade options the Cavs may have and Sam asks Matt if the Cavs could acquire Hood and Favors. Matt Moore says no because he thinks the Jazz have too many better offers on the table. He implies the Jazz have reached out to everyone.

Rubio would commit suicide. After 6 years being a part of the holy mess that was Minnesota, and just when they are going to be really good they ship him to a solid franchise with a solid roster, and just as things are clicking, he's shipped to a dumpster fire where he would have the "honor" of playing alongside LeBron James for a few months. Then, he would enjoy another year of playing for the worst team in the league, the LeBron-is-gone-again Cavs.

I like Matt Moore... his trade ideas are really dumb. He tries to be too different sometimes. They fake traded Lebron to like 4 teams. I would put zero stock in his trade evaluations.

Cavs fans seem to think that Rubio, Favors, and Hood for IT, Frye, JR/Shump, and Cavs own pick gets it done. It is going to be long and terrifying night for them starting next year. . .
