If he is locked into his contract he may be fine coming off the bench or at least warm to the idea. I think a rotation of Rubio, DM, Evan, Ingles, Royce is diverse and has some interchangeableness (not a word). If Exum is healthy we have a lot of options 1-3... with Royce playing small ball 4 sometimes.

If the cost is AB and a second I'd do it... I doubt they would take it unless they think Evan helps them win too much this year.

It's not about him being fine with it. It the same thing with Hood. Why spend that money on a 6th man when you can put it in your starting lineup? Having Fournier on the books might interfere with being able to extend Rubio or sign some other UFA in 2019.

Hood and Evan are close to being worth that money... but Hood has the injury issues which gives me real pause.

Unless you get a superstar in FA almost all big FA acquisitions will be overpriced... bidding drives the market up.

I mean, yeah, neither is a terrible contract, but if I were a GM I would not want to pay either player that contract to be a 6th man. How many teams do well with highly paid 6th men in NBA history? It's basically Ginobili, and neither Hood or Fournier are Ginobili.

It'd be different if either player had defensive versatility or value, but they dont.

I dont know maybe the Jazz see Rubio/Exum as a better pg option at this point over Donovan and Donovan as a better 2 than Hood.

Jones has reported pretty consistently that the Jazz are intrigued by an Exum/Mitchell backcourt in the long term. It always made sense to me that only one of Exum and Hood would likely be here long term. Rubio seems like a stop gap unless he absolutely wows everyone or Exum flops badly.

Except that we'd still have a **** ton of money to spend still and Rubio might not be worth keeping... we can't buy into his recent hot streak... he's done this before. We hope some of the finishing is real and he has a decent rhythm with Rudy now.

Evan's contract might even be more movable and an decent asset then... I remember when Tobias was dumped for relief... we'd love him on that deal right now.

Hood is good as gone if that report is true. He might feel isolated because everybody adores Mitchell and there is a crew of Rubio, Mitchell, Ingles, O'Neale, Jerekbo, Udoh and maybe a few others that really, really get along. You can tell by their social media. Hood is never mentioned.

His saying that has zero impact on him staying or going and has no impact on how things will be if he stays. People are making a lot out of nothing

He's a better defender. He's a better rim protector. I'm not sure if he's a better overall player because he hasn't had a chance to play as much. I think he might be a better fit on this team and in this system. Favs is definitely more skilled offensively. If I had to choose one guy to be my backup 5 only I'd go with Udoh all day. But Favs can also play the 4.

There is no GM in the world that would rank Udoh over Favs.

I mean the warriors pay a lot for Iggy... you mentioned Manu. Cleveland has had some expensive bench pieces.

With Rubio there are times you'd want to run DM at PG and having Evan next to him is great. Might even go without a PG and put Ingles and Evan out there are times. I think he'd still get starter minutes and while he is paid well as a 6th man I think he'd be better than our 6th best player.

I think it would be ideal to have someone like that off the bench actually.
