Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

Glad I didn't do that Hood research. Whew. I really hope there's a pick swap in this somewhere. Jae is a decent get, but you would think a first for Hood would be a better deal.
If Jae returns to Celtics version, then this is a good trade... I think. And Jae will become an expiring contract when the market loosens up a little... He could net us a 1st down the road, after playing some valuable minutes over the next 1.5 seasons +/-

this trade will take a while to judge.

Eh if Rodney signs a pretty large deal then Jazz won. But if Rodney gets a team-friendly deal which is possible, I think Jazz lost.

I thought the value of having a RFA in this tight market was pretty high, at least higher than the return the Jazz got, but I guess time will tell.

This should surprise no one but we save a couple million in this deal... maybe more if someone picks up Rose once we waive him. We are the cheapest "buyers" ever.

Not real happy right now.

So its Hood for Crowder because Joe was getting bought out either way...

.... we get an affordable starter / high quality bench player (down year granted). Hood probably better than crowder but crowder costs a third...

Trade works.

Now, what the hell are we getting for Hood?

Jae Crowder, cap flexibility and we keep Rubio and Exum.

I said this last night. Mitchell, Rubio and Exum we can make work despite all 3 needing the basketball to be at their best. If you add Hood to that as a 4th who needs the ball it doesn't work. If we kept Hood past the deadline we are committed to match any offer he gets this summer. So who's gone in that scenario between Rubio (who is a better player than Hood) and Exum (who has more upside than Hood and will be far cheaper)? I like Rodney. But it was wise for us to move on.

I like Crowder but... man Hood should've fetched more than that.
Crowder having a down year, but is there any doubt Quin fixes his game? Crowder is better than any player we could get with a late first.

Cavs really making some great moves to redo their team.

Now it makes sense for Jazz to try to keep Favs in the off-season. Rose will likely be bought out.
