What's new

What do you want the Jazz lineup to look like next year?

Knight
Hayward
Kirilenko
Kanter
Favors

Millsap, Memo, Watson, CJ from the bench

I heard the Cavs are going to trade for Rip Hamilton and buy him out. I really hope he comes to the Jazz. We could really use a shooter like him running off screens and freeing up the inside for Millsap and Jefferson.

I thought we were tired of a SG that shot like Raja Bell? Seen Rip's stats lately?

No way, we need 3pt shooter and Rip can't do that.

Hayward is a lock at SG for the Jazz at least for the next decade and I'm down with that.

But Billups is stronger, can post up, and because he's stronger can finish at the rim.

OK, but Fredette has shown to be pretty strong as well (ref: his bench press stats at Combine was 14). Also I can't for the life of me remember the last time Billups dunked the ball.

If those are the only differences between them I can live with that - as I said Jimmer's ceiling is at least Billups.

I'd rather have someone who's a Billups type player running the Jazz than say a erratic Westbrook type player (*cough* Knight *cough*)

Honestly Brandon Knight reminds me more of Billups than Jimmer. Billups played both PG and SG in college and when he was drafted into the NBA. He is exactly like Knight. He can score in clutch situations, he has a great mid range shot and a three pointer. His passing is MUCH better than Freddette's passing and he is a leader. He never took 30 shots a game and he doesn't force the ball. Alec Burks from Colorado is also similar to Billups

There's no question that Knight has a higher upside in this draft compared to Fredette. But how much more of an upside?

I'd rather keep the #3 and pick Fredette at #12. If Fredette can get any near Billups level of play (given that he's not athletic, not a great passer, etc, etc), then he's a steal at #12 and I'd be more than happy with that. Plus we still get someone else at #3.

Alec Burks can't shoot well, he is nothing like Billups. He is more like Roy (who if you look, had poor outside shooting numbers until his Junior year).

If you think the Jimmer = Billups stuff is funny, TNT said that Jimmer comparison could be Nash. Nash was a scoring guard in college and worked hard to develop his PG skills. Jimmer = Nash would drive the Jimmer haters off the deep end.:)
