This is the MAN we need at #3 - C Jonas Valanciunas

I'm just grabbing things I think are interesting from realgm. There are some people over there that have really followed JV's game.

Kirsten19 wrote:His stock is clearly falling. Espn and Chad Ford have him projected at 8th.

Ford said he'll slip because of his buyout. Regardless, I hope he does fall if he declares. I don't like the prospect of a young player like Valanciunas going so high. He's certainly a project, and I don't want people to start calling him a bust in his first year. People who don't know anything about Valanciunas (aside from Youtube videos) will be quick to judge. Simple as that.......

Looking at the draft order, I hope he goes to either Jazz (12), Cavaliers (8), Suns (13), or Rockets (14). I think those teams would be the best for his development.

You can't teach height, and it looks like the kid busts his *** on both ends. On the defensive end, Jazz fans have been watching disinterested/uninspired forwards and centers for too long, so this JV seems to be getting people excited.

If were looking for this then just draft the best at it....Biyombo.

I'm not sure if the best part of those highlights were the wolf in armor humping/shaking it's "tail" or whatever is going on, or the biggest bottle of champagne ever.

When I read what people and scouts report re JV I'm getting all pumped up and excited bu then I watch his highlights and I'm like WTF?!

Someone said Kanter dominated Valanciunas at the U-18 euro championships. I checked it up and it's true. But it was back in 2008 (or was it 08/09???). Last time JV played he was the MVP (I believe Kanter didn't play then).

That should be me, Lion's Roar. It was just a fact. Having said that I believe JV is quite a solid prospect. he was 2nd rebounds per minute in Euroleague.
If anybody is interested, here is a thread from interbasket.net on comparison of biggest Euro prospects. Comments from guys who have watched these guys in 100+ games.

I am downloading a torrent of the final matchup between JV and Kanter in the 2009 Euro u18 championships. I'll report what I see.

I do know that in this game Kanter had 35 pts and 19 rebounds. (I believe JV had 20 and 8, but double-checking)

In Kanter's final two games in the u18 euro championships, Kanter totalled 67 points and 44 rebounds. Not trying to be a homer, but sheesh it seems some should take these numbers at least somewhat seriously. He did, after all, play AGAINST JV in this matchup.

This was my OP from Page 3. Basically Kanter dominated until the day he left .. making room for someone else to emerge.

One thing I really liked about Kanter in the combine was the way he uses his elbows in the post. Gran Fraschillapointed this out and he was right. He wasn't just leaning into his defender he was using his elbows to limit the position of his defender which was pretty impressive for a 18 year old kid.

Somdays I wake up and think the Jazz should take Kanter, somedays JV, somedays Knight. Who knows?

The best part of those highlights was the hos dancing...and even they weren't all that special...

Just like Kanter, he plays like a timid little bitch whenever anyone is around him down low. That won't work in the NBA. A 7 footer on a wide open cut to the basket for a FINGER ROLL!?!? Mother****in pass.
