No. I'd say he's an SEC caliber athlete playing in the Mountain Conference who is very similar to Brewer. Since his athleticism translates to the NBA, I don't think the overall lack of competition hurts his stock as much.

I don't think I've ever said Jimmer won't be able to score in the NBA. I've also said I believe he will develop into a solid backup point as long as he can play any defense. The only point I've been making in this thread is Jimmer's senior numbers have to be weighed against the fact he was 22 playing in a league that isn't world class. Doesn't mean his stats or talent is invalidated. But older college players have a pretty distinct advantage.
 
food for thought on MW versus SEC

Just some food for thought on the debate of SEC versus MW, from Sagarin ratings, which I would argue gives an apples-to-apples (albeit imperfect) comparision by correcting for schedule strenght, etc:

Perhaps a better value from sagarin is the overall strenght of schedule, where BYU is 50th and Kentucky is 15th. Probably a pretty good gauge regarding level of competition for Jimmer versus Knight.

If you are going to use Sagarin, use Sagarin, not some formulation you made on the back of a napkin. Sagarin has the SEC as a better conference, but the mean is less than half a point. This means that Sagarin considers both coferences roughly equal. The difference between the SOS between Kentucky and BYU is only 2.7 points out of around 80, which also isn't a dramatic difference.

If we draft Knight, we need to remember that he isn't a normal 3 pick and would likely have been a mid-lottery selection in a normal draft. Ther is a decent chance that Jimmer will be the better pro as he is the better player right now. Understandibly Knight has a higher possible ceiling, but that may or may not happen. I wouldn't pick either with the 3 pick.
