Game 3: His name is Jonas -- Thunder @ Jazz 4/21/2018 8:00 pm MST

Am I the only one who thinks Westbrook's jive talk is transparent? Ricky will play his role in the game 4 like he has all year, I wonder if Russ believes his own ********? I hope so.

If Westbrook overplays on defense Rubio will have a career day passing the ball. His career high is 19 assists (vs John Wall)

I truly hope Westbrook does take this as a personal vendetta. That will push him even more into hero ball and take him even more out of the games.

Also I am not sure if OKC knows this but we are Hydra. Cut off one head, 2 more rip out your basketball soul.

I’m so happy we don’t have to wait 2 days to get this series at 3-1, and get on our way to a Utah/Philly finals.....but really I hope Westbrook takes it personal and focuses solely on his own battle with Rubio, because after his comments the refs will be watching closer and someone else will go off. The Jazz had some rough sequences with Exum last night, lots of stupid turnovers that can be cleaned up, and OKC shot the ball really well and the game was basically our blowout version of game 1. After scoring only 2 points in game 2 during the 4th between the 3 of them if Game 3 is as motivated as they became from that we should be in good shape.

I hope tomorrow nights crowd is just as rocking, and the Jazz have the foot on the throat, home court tomorrow, and a chance to take complete control of this series on a team that is not at all sure who they are and doesn’t seem like they’ll deal with adversity well at all. A good win tomorrow could really break the will of the Thunder....now do it.——Donovan for 40

Most importantly, if Westbrook has to spend time defending Rubio, he ain't getting those rebounds. Imagine the Jazz rebounding advantage becoming even MORE lopsided. . .

Crowder's defense has been pretty good the last 2 games. The adjustment to him playing more 3 and less 4 has been critical.

Not when I look at the record of the team with each of them.
Crowder has played with a healthy Gobert and without Joe Johnson. Nothing about the team's success really has to do with losing Hood or gaining Crowder. Their total BPM is the same for their time in utah, and that's with Hood being in a much harder position w/ worse circumstances.

I know you really like to defend Hood. But frankly I'm glad he's gone. They weren't going to pay him. And I cringed when he tried to go hero ball. People complain when Crowder shoots too much, but Hood was a bigger offender of that. He played outside the offense more than Crowder does. And there is no question who the better defender is.

When Crowder is missing shots I don't feel he's worthless. Can't say the same about Hood.

Whatever wins we have now would have been compromised by Hood chucking up shots. If Hood was here we would be down 3-0 and Rubio and Mitchell would be out of sync. Hood thew off our offense with his 1-18 shooting, he just was a scrub that was a pansy

There is a question. Crowder isnt a good defender at all. They are pretty similarly average w/ moments above or below that mark.

Hood took 3 more shots per game than Crowder, a decent amount more, but not a ton. Crowder throws off our offense much worse by just not being good at offense at all.

Again, y'all can be in your emotions over Hood not being as tough or disappointing your unreasonable expectations for him, but he is in no way worse than Crowder (other than staying healthy).

yeah crowder has been pretty damn bad, any momentum we have going in he just negates the **** out of it.

He has been pretty damn bad, not just shooting the ball, but he commits stupid fouls, and keeps on doing some really odd ****.

hope he can turn it around, but he looks mentally defeated.

If we had Crowder for the first half of the year and he played like he did for Utah, we would have still lost a **** ton of games and people would have been pissed at him.

If we traded him for Hood and Hood has his first half of the season for us in the 2nd half, we would be praising how much better Hood had been than Crowder.

Hood played about 1/8th of his total minutes with Gobert this season while on Utah. That's a big part of why he looked really bad on defense this year. He played more minutes with Joe Johnson this year than Rudy Gobert. Even Rubio, who now looks great defensively, looked bad on that end when Gobert went down.

I'm not trying to make an argument that Hood is actually a good defender, I dont think he is. I think he is incredibly average on that end, just like Crowder. Crowder just had the benefit of playing 63% of his minutes with Gobert this year.

It sucks the relationship with Hood soured to the point where he didnt want to make it workout in a 6th man role. Hood would undoubtedly be the better long-term fit and it really looks like he isnt going to get paid much of anything above 8 million a year. Even if we didnt want to sign Hood long-term, even to a reasonable deal like 8 million a year (which would be understandable with how wonky his injury history is), I think at this point I'd rather just let Hood walk than have Jae's contract on the books.

There is little doubt in my mind that O'Neale will be a better player next year. Hopefully someone still values Jae enough to where we can deal him for a 2nd round pick or something.
