I've been thinking about that too. I don't know. But in lieu of anything substantive statistically or anecdotally, I tend to trust the narrative, especially since it seems consensus has existed for a long time (which, yes, could possibly speak as loudly to your point).

Utah does have a lot of white people. It's kind of getting old that racist comments keep happening everywhere but I highly doubt it's worse in utah.
This guy is the same one who got in the seats and fought the crowd. Got in a fight with a teammate in a bar. Just admitted to doing marijuana before games and played "high." I could be wrong but that's on the banned substances list.
He was a dirty player and a thug on the floor. He's not really a dude who's opinion I'd count on.

The smoking weed thing is a non issue for me, there's been former jazz players that I'm sure have done it. Stephen Jackson is /was also a known member of the bloods, doesn't have the best of credibility with me .
The bottom line is this, no I really don’t think the Stephen Jackson in a jumpsuit thing is funny, it’s not really racist but is what I would say is a step over the line. You don’t want this discussion among the NBA community or to have fans adding fire to it even if it is a few idiots. Part of it is probably an unfair label, part of it is probably that they have actually heard some things. Either way, I think the Jazz/arena crews need to ensure the people around the opposing players bench and exit tunnel are kept more in line and watched closer.
Sorry but if any of this is going on, fans are fools to think it doesn’t affect the entire perception of playing here and/or staying here. Players know one another well, and players talk. If people are actually acting like that there are ways to take care of those people. The excuse that it happens everywhere or they paid good money is a stupid one. That doesn’t give you the right to cross lines. I noticed Donovan’s sister liked a post on IG that was Westbrook’s rip on fans here. Is that an agreement?
Sorry but when you cross those kind of lines or let anyone sitting to you cross those lines you’re disrespecting your own players and they notice. If it is happening it needs to be watched heavily and put in check. For f*** sakes treat people decent. It doesn’t matter what dollar figure they make they’re still human beings. The fact that it happens everywhere is no excuse to it happening here.

How would someone even begin to quantify it? Start counting the number of times you here racist comments? Do a study. Compare it to all other teams? Then if Utah turns out to have the most occurrences then that means the entire state is racist, and can be labled as such?
Im just saying that its never ok to generalize any group of people. Not just because it isnt right, but because its just not factually correct. Which makes it stupid and pointless. You gain no insight by doing so.
Ive been to probably 30+ Jazz games in my life and can honestly say I have never once heard anything racist. Ever. Ive sat as close as 4th row, up to nose bleeds, close but not next to the tunnels, and everywhere inbetween. Doesnt mean that it doesnt happen, but it surely isnt something common.
I just dont think that many NBA fans are racists. It would be weird to be. When the majority of the league is black.

Ok, a few things:
-I think Elfrid Payton’s hair is ridiculous and I would take every chance I had to taunt him about it during a game if given the opportunity. Does that make me a racist? Because honestly, I don’t really know anymore. For a frame of reference, I think The Bird Man has always had really stupid hair do’s and would also taunt him if given the chance. It seems like nowadays, a white guy cant tease a black guy about a REALLY stupid hair do without somebody inferring racism. Which is really sad/stupid
-Considering the fact that a team from New Orleans was plopped right down in the middle of a community made up almost entirely of white, staunchly religious, conservatives, The Fan-Player relationship has never really seemed to be a problem, and IMO has even managed to make strides making it better year after year. For Utah being as white as it is, you haven’t seen some of the ugly situations where black players come under fire from their white fans. Towns like Boston and Philly have had some pretty ugly moments in that regards.
-In the age of iPhones, social media, and instant EVERYTHING, please show us something when you decide to deride an entire fan base of being racist. If it’s going on at the level that Jackson and Westbrook are saying, that ***** on video somewhere. Let’s get it out there and actually get some merit behind your ugly accusations.

Using the term “thug” for guys who aren’t really thugs is a pretty bad look to. A dirty player does not equate to a thug.
I wouldn’t say it’s racist but it’s absolutly bad taste.
