Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Seems like he shot the ball well in the Jazz workout ^
Also, he's saying the Jazz are the team that has been reaching out to him a lot and that's why he wanted to do a workout with us. Interesting. Seems like we are more than interested...

I can see that. A bigger Evan Turner could be his floor. I would be shocked if he doesnt improve his 3pt shooting though. Turner was never a shooter and never acted like he wanted to become a shooter.

A bigger Evan turner with a modest 3 point percentage (30-35) is a good player. Honestly if ET could play the 4 regularly he might be valuable as a playmaking 4 even though he can’t shoot. Brown is intriguing but I doubt he’s there when we pick. I think KBD is more likely to be available.

Oh for sure... the basketball fit is kinda obvious. Seems like a well spoken kid... I think he could go to a bad situation and struggle but in our program and offense he could easily flourish if he’s a worker.

Do we think he's going to be there at 21?

I don't. I could see him going to any of the teams 13-20... I don't know what Thibs' drafting philosophy is but I assume he drafts a non-shooting big or Bruce Brown (sarcasm).

I think he goes ahead of KBD because of age.

I'm not a huge KBD fan. I would probably have Brown ahead of him too.

I like them both. I think Brown is a 3/4 and KBD will be just a 4 who is switchy.

I wouldn't be shocked if he was there at 21... would say its like a 25-30% chance. Depends on when Knox comes off the board too... if he last until 15 I think there is a better chance of Brown sliding. I could see Denver and Washington picking Knox or Brown. Milwaukee has other needs, but with Bud they might go a wing and teach him to shoot. If SA goes Okobo or Heurter I think we are in business.

I mean, we all think guys like Huerter and Okobo are rising, so someone has to fall.

This draft is very VERY weird. I don't think there is much consensus past the top 10-12 or so. To me at least it seems like a lot of the slotting in the 12-40 range would be by the 'eye of the beholder'... I can see surprises in the teens..

I honestly don't think there is consensus anywhere other than it seems like most people think Doncic is the best wing and Ayton is the best big. Everything else seems up in the air at this point.

The issue is that at #21 there are going to be probably 5 people that I'd like to have. I really hope we make the right choice.

Yeah it reminds me of the 2016 draft in that sense. Like I remember Dejounte Murray being mocked at 10 on some sites and he fell to 29. There was just one gigantic tier of prospects, and guys like Dejounte Murray, Luwawu, Korkmaz, Labissiere, Papagiannis, Yabusele, McCaw, Deyonta Davis, Brogdon, and some others went in unexpected places. So hopefully the same thing happens in this draft to our benefit.

But I think I could tell you 10 of the top 11 with relative certainty. The potential sliders being Miles Bridges or Colin Sexton... after that its kind of a shot in the dark.

I think Walker, SGA, and Knox are all very likely gone before the 20s... Guys like Huerter, Okobo, or Musa I could see anywhere from 18-30... could see Frazier going 17-25 or in the 30s.

I think it is eye of the beholder, but I think they are high quality prospects.

I saw one mock with Musa at like 39 iirc too. But Brunson at like 25. Yeah, a ton of fluidity.

I’m warming up to the Brown idea. I just worry that two of the biggest commodities (defense and shooting) are really lacking.

He’s nice to watch though.

Yeah, that's what I meant. But Cy is right too... even within the top 10 there is some uncertainty. We don't know if Trae will go 4 or 10-12, if Porter will go 3 or 9.

I actually like this draft. Even players I'm relatively low on(KBD, Brown, Evans), I'm low on them compared to others, not that I don't like the players or that I will hate us selecting them. That's not the case. Usually there are some players I absolutely would hate for us to select(Lyles, Lydon, Bradley in previous years), but this year, I have to really think about who I would hate to hear as Jazz' selection on draft night. I kind of don't want us to take a center, but that is more to do with the newly emerging positional value dip of the 5 position, as well as the fact that we will be talking about an at best 12-15 minutes player(since we have our center of the present and the future locked in).

I keep hearing Porter Jr could drop out of the top ten.
