Following Potential 2018 Draftees

@Saint Cy of JFC you said you've watched like... 5-6 games of Okobo. I've only seen 2. Tony Jones asked him about his playmaking and I've heard others question it. Have you noticed anything to worry about in that aspect? From what I've seen I cannot fathom how someone can watch him and have questions about his playmaking and decisionmaking. I felt like was damn near perfect in his reads and very accurate with his passes. I would put it very firmly into the strengths category. My question is - did I catch the two weird games where he was unusually great making reads and decisions with the ball in his hands and passing teammates open, or is this some old worry about his game that he's rectified?
I think it's more of a question from his previous season.

Comparing Anfernee Simons to Zhaire Smith...

Z. Smith: height w/o shoes - 6'2.75", wingspan - 6'9.75", standing reach - 8'4", weight - 198 lbs, age - 19.0, max vert - 41.5

A. Simons: height w/o shoes - 6'2.25", wingspan - 6'9.25", standing reach - 8'3.5", weight - 183 lbs, age - 19.0, max vert - 41.5

They're the freaking same age, like born the same week, and Simons is within a half inch on every measurement. Simons is a much better offensive player, and Smith is a much better defensive player at this stage.

The only question with Simons is whether he can add strength and defend. If he can, he's a steal in our draft range. Depending on how teams value offense vs. defense and project improvement, an argument can be made that they're in the same tier as 19 year-old prospects.

Okobo could become the PGOTF. He wouldn't be the 3rd guard. Also, the Jazz might play Exum off the ball as much as on the ball.

I don't see this at all. PGOTF when? I think Rubio loves it here and we love him here and I see no way we don't re-sign him. So Okobo would take over when? In five years? And if we don't re-sign Rubio, then what? Okobo starts in 2019? That would set us back a couple of years imo. No way Okobo could bring to the table near what Rubio does for quite a long time imo.

Musa had 21pts in the Croatian League final. Pretty impressive what he is doing as a 19 year old as well. Just turned 19. One of the youngest in the draft.

Rubio's lack of shooting puts a ceiling on what the Jazz can be. Okobo has easy range out to 27 feet and he also finishes pretty well at the rim.

Thats not the only question; Can he play PG in the future? is one well worth asking.

If he can, scooping him up at 21 would be a major win.

I think Cy throughout a Deangelo Russell comp... if Russell was more mature and serious he’d be great... health has been an issue.

Part of the reason I like Okobo is I think he can play alongside any of our backcourt guys... I don’t know that you want Ricky and Exum on the court together. If we want a guy that can score and break down the defense I don’t think anyone else is better.

I’d be okay with taking Simons but am weary of guys that skip development stages... unless they are insane talents like Lebron, KG, etc I worry they don’t get the time to develop all the right habits and skills because they move into survival mode.

The hesitation dribble and side step step back stuff paired with his shooting gets me excited. Sounds like he may be rough on defense right now.

He shot over 41% the last 40 games of the year from 3. I don't see that being an anomaly or an issue. Rubio's also light years ahead of him defensively and in running an offense.
