Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Unless you bench one of them in the most important series of the year, Okobo or DM would have to guard Harden heavy minutes. I don't think it would work well. Portland has a similar tiny backcourt and Harden averaged 38 ppg this year on them, Houston going 4-0.

Lillard and McCollum aren’t bad on defense bc of their size, they’re just bad on defense.

Height doesn’t matter. Wingspan does.

DM is 6'3 with a 6'10 wingspan, he's a rock solid 210 pounds and he's gonna be fine defensively. Okobo is 6'2/6'3 with a 6'8 wingspan and has a frame that can add a little weight. The problem the Blazers have is that while Lillard is 6'2 with a near 6'8 wingspan he also has a thin frame and has never been a good defender. McCollum has never been a good defender either and he isn't that long (6'6 wingspan). Portland also doesn't have a good rim protector and we do.

Quin would get creative. He's a really good coach when it comes to matchups. If Okobo has some struggles on defense against the Hardens and Klays of the world but is the offensive player a lot of us think he can be then Quin will find ways to utilize his offensive abilities without sacrificing defense. Maybe he plays Okobo off of the bench only against the second unit of the other team. Maybe he has Okobo guard a spot up shooter while guys like Exum/DM/Rubio/Crowder/Ingles guard those guys.

Okobo is similar to guys like James Harden and D'Angelo Russell. Stop saying dumb stuff like Lillard and George Hill.

Wingspan helps some, but its not the same as being 6'6". That's why Exum was much better on Harden with his 8'7" reach compared to DM's 8"1". Having that hand in his face eye level was able to throw Harden's shot off more often.

I’m out on KBD.

I want Okobo.

Or Brown, or a number of other guys.

But not KBD. Unless we could move back into the end of the first and still get him or something.

@TheeJazzFan

The Hornacek we had was no better than JJ Reddick. I'm all for supporting our guys and loving the past, but Jeff Hornacek was a 6'4" elite shooter with limited athleticism. Playing with Stockton and Malone lengthened his career, but the game is different now. Korver and Reddick are fair comps.

I don't know if you have seen Hornacek in his prime before he was playing on one leg but he was better overall then both of those guys. Hornacek was quicker than people gave him credit. Did he jump out of the gym, of course not, but neither do Korver and Reddick. Hornacek's BBIQ was outstanding and he had a lunchbox of shots. He wasn't just a 3 point shooter. He could create his own shot, come off a screen, pick and roll.

The only thing that slowed him down was his bad knee. He was a tough defender and defended bigger guys. Playing with S&M certainly helped his career but it didn't length it. Beside the fact the Jazz never could get to the Finals until he came along.

Just watch a DX vid on Mo shooting and talking about his mechanics.

In 5 years people will talking about teams that passed up Mo.
