*Breaking News* Kawhi Wants Out

SA is not going to send him to LA unless either of those teams give them everything they want and more. SA isn't going to facilitate a super team in the Western Conference. SA is a more competent organization than that. Kawhi can say he wants to go wherever he wants, the Spurs get to trade him. I imagine they will take the best they can to send him east tbh.

Woj already tweeted that SA probably won't send him to the Lakers. They can get a better deal elsewhere, without helping create another super team in the West.

Sure there are plenty of options for Pop. See Sloan"s marriage.
True, I still find that weird. If you are going to be an old rich guy who remarries a much younger women, you might as well go really young. Get a 30 year old, go for the full 40 year age gap instead of the 20 Sloan did.

As Mark Heisler of the Orange County Register reported, "It’s one of Popovich’s cardinal rules not to help Western Conference rivals, much less one with the tradition and resources of the Lakers."

Popovich, for instance, was less than pleased in 2008 when the Memphis Grizzlies traded Pau Gasol to the Lakers, a deal that helped pave the way for two titles in Los Angeles.

"What they did in Memphis is beyond comprehension," Popovich said at the time, per SI.com. "There should be a trade committee that can scratch all trades that make no sense. I just wish I had been on a trade committee that oversees NBA trades. I'd like to elect myself to that committee. I would have voted no to the L.A. trade."

leonard could very very well go to the celtics in a trade. Just b/c the celtics have a few players that fit pops system, lakers have **** all to offer in terms of this, maybe ingram, thats it. kuzma is not a pop player tbh

If another super team is assembled in the west which includes LBJ and Kawhi, we really need to go hard after whatever we can get using our abundance of expiring deals.

Waiting on a free agent in 2019 is just silly. If everybody is going to join up, what true chance do we have? What free agent can we really get?

2019 space is fools gold. Our expirings (Burks, Jerekbo, Udoh, Thabo) are actual gold we need to turn into a valuable pick.

Even money I think. Boston can put together the best package to get him. Boston would be just as good an endorsement city as LA due to the exposure of the franchise. San Antonio is very much in control of where Kawhi goes, not the other way around.

I'm beginning to think Kawhi's "leak" set several Plan B's into motion. Utah is one of the few teams that could conceivably do a superteam. If you want to count a superstar as a "Player you can make an argument is a top 10 type", Utah has one in Gobert and DM will be another next season. We have assets, picks, and a timeline. I was onboard the methodical approach and still am, but if Utah had to make "that move", then I understand to.

This off season is going to be nuts.

We can only get Kawhi if Kawhi says he wants Utah. If he does that, no other team risks all the assets for a one year rental. San Antonio then takes the best offer we can make.
