Pre-draft workouts

Both Perrin and DL said today that usually there are 6-8 players in consideration at our pick, but this time there are "at least double that". This means:

1. that we will have a good choice of players at 21
2. I wouldn't be surprised if we either trade back in order to get two picks in the range that encapsulates those 12-15 players we might like(something like 21 for 26+38 from Philly or 21 for 30 and 34 and future second from Atlanta)... OR we might try to trade up in the second round or buy a second round pick in the early 30s.

I was saying this a while ago and was scolded and told DL finds his guy then goes and gets him... it seems sometimes that is not true and this draft we may view the 20s and 30s as a big tier that we need to try and get two bites at the Apple.

We had a workout arranged with Huerter but he got injured and pulled out. Hutchison hasn't worked out for anybody since he supposedly got a promise at the combine, so I don't know how you can blame Walt for not getting him.

Even if he couldn't get them for other reasons, I don't think you realize how hard it is to arrange all those players being available at the same time and being able to match them against players that make sense. You will never get everybody you wanted to get for a workout. Almost every workout Walt has arranged has been great when you look at the names and the matchup fits.

I’ll add he also arranged some good matchups too.

We haven't had either one in for a workout. Huerter was scheduled but had to cancel, possibly due to his hand. Hutchinson hasn't done very many workouts. It's been reported for a while that Hutchinson got a promise from someone in the first round so I think he shut down workouts after that happened.

Huerter canceled because he flew home to be with his parents as he decided to declare for the draft or not.

How dare you chide me over the plausibility of trade scenarios while posting disillusioned crap like this.

It seems pretty evident the Lakers could get 2 or 3 of Lebron, Kawhi and George. If losing Deng (and Ingram) makes that possible, they do it.

The same Harrison Barnes who is owed 24M and 25M for the next two seasons?

We’d have zero cap space if we signed him to that deal. Horrendous. He comes off the books in 2020.

It’s not even that.

Ingram >>> Ball

Your trade suggested we eat Deng’s contract for Ingram. His trade suggested we eat Deng’s contract for Ball and on top of it give them three 1st round picks!!!

That’s his point I think. To him, my trade was laughable because he thinks we’d have to give up more.
