What's new

Wiggins, KAT, Jabari Parker, Bledsoe on the trade block?

Dude starts a 4/$146,450,000 next year. That is more than 36 million a year on average for 4 years.

God damn. Never mind, I don’t want him anymore.
Let the wolves be ****ed in cap hell.

I hope I've been clear on the parameters of a trade here (light on the assets sent, largely a salary dump) and that I understand it's a lot of money.

The Jazz are asset-poor right now. They have to find some way to generate players from the cap flexibility they have before they have to pay Mitchell. They have to take a chance or just have to hope that a late pick turns into gold. I also am not gung-ho on the idea, but I think there's something there.

I don't think Wiggins is a finished product, and if his biggest weakness is he's laid back, that is kind of the best-case scenario for character issues.

So we would have him on contract longer than Gobert. Man, I just haven't seen enough to justify that, especially as he starts running into Mitchel's next contract.
The talent is there. I think the question is everything else, and I think the Jazz are as good a bet at addressing the "everything else" as any situation in the league.

I guess I would like to see if we could lure in Parker who is still a gamble but for something like 35% off full Wiggins prices.

This isn't upside money, though. That's bona fide superstar money.

You don't throw that kind of cash at a guy who under the right circumstances, might be a difference maker. You throw it at a difference maker.
In a perfect world.

The Jazz have to pull **** if they want to improve their chances of having a consistent offensive contributor next to Mitchell. That's just how it is.

That being said, Wiggins has been very inefficient. There is a lot to have pause about.

Like Donovan when he becomes eligible for the super max. Wiggins' contract doesn't scare me for the 1st two years. It's 3-5 when it becomes a millstone.
