Following Potential 2018 Draftees

If the Kings don't take him he'll probably go 4th or 5th. Unless the Hawks trade down with someone who is targeting him.

I just feel like the following is going to happen:

#1 - Ayton
#2 - Bagley
#3 - Trae Young - it will be the first big shocker. Atlanta will do it because there are less great PG's in this draft but plenty of wings and bigs.
#4 - Porter Jr or Jaren Jackson - might be a trade down, but I think the team trading up is trading for Porter.
#5 - Bamba - I think Cuban and Dallas are enamored with big men. Plus, Bamba is a Texas guy.
#6 - Orlando might get him or take Porter if he's there. Or Jackson if he is still there.

What's crazy is that the teams like Chicago, Cleveland and New York have done all this planning based on the 2nd level of players (Bridges, Bridges, Sexton, Knox, etc.). Sure, Doncic will be high on their board, but they've already done so much planning on other guys. Plus, they haven't worked Doncic out. I wonder if some team will panic on a decision of a guy they haven't seen in Doncic vs a recent riser like Kevin Knox who they have invested a bunch of time in over the last couple weeks.

I'd be stunned if Atlanta took Trae Young. I know that they worked him out and have some interest in him. But I still think they'd go with Bamba or Jackson Jr there. I think Trae is their target if they trade down or acquire another pick. The Grizzlies would have strong interest in Doncic at 4. He can help them right away and they want to win now. If they pass I don't think Dallas will.Dallas reportedly loves Doncic. They are exploring trade up options to get him.

Everything you're saying is probably right. I just have this feeling that the next 48 hours will be chaotic with news, there will be last second chatter and workouts, and then a team might pull the trigger faster than they want to. Sure, average value for Trae is 5-7 and Doncic is 2-4, but I think a team like Atlanta might go with the prospect they know better who has "higher upside" and brings them more exposure than a guy they really haven't worked out or interviewed as closely.

If Atlanta feels that Doncic is the smarter pick but they love Trae, if they don't get a good trade down opportunity, they might just say screw it and take Trae.

I know they haven't been mocked as such but if Sac passed on Doncic then Atlanta should take a long hard look at him.

If Doncic is still on the board with the Memphis' pick, would they still trade the 4th pick? Could the Jazz grab Doncic? Wow.

I'm happy that Woj won't be ruining the draft experience anymore. It kind of sucked to watch it on TV and somebody was just trying to have that 30 second head start so they could get on here and blast who was picked right before you watched it.

Yah but instead of Woj, now Sham Shamaranana will be doing it.

I don't even know if Memphis knows what they are going to do. The safe move would be to take Doncic. The bold move would be taking Porter. Since they are talking about trading down to get rid of Parsons, it's just hard to tell what they really want.

So much gamesmanship this year.

Memphis will either

stay at 4 and pick

trade down a spot or two to gain extra assets (maybe a player who can help next year) and still have a high pick

or

Trade #4 and Parsons for an all star level player

I agree with option A or B, but there is no option C level available. San Antonio would laugh at #4 and Parsons for Kawhi. I don't think Cleveland would take Parsons and #4 for Love. I think the "best" player Memphis could get with #4 and Parsons is maybe Wiggins.

#4 could get a whole bunch. Parsons is a massive anchor to #4. His contract turns #4 into a late lottery pick at best.
