What's new

Jazz select Grayson Allen at 21

I don't think it's crazy to mold a guy with a great catch and shoot and pull-up shot and we are talking about #21. If he provides gravity with his shot in a reserve role on a cheap deal, it's not the end of the world.

I agree with you. I think it’s very debatable that he was even the BPA. Okobo could’ve been. And he fit a need. I’d personally rather see Okobo come in off the bench and in time replace Rubio than see Allen play... when?
Allen can take any minutes that Okobo would’ve got.

I want to see a poll on this pick. Seems like a lot of fans hate it.

I don’t understand it at all. Character matters. And just because Allen behaved his senior year doesn’t mean the character flaws aren’t there.

Some people make bad decisions and mistakes when young.

I did all kinds of foolish **** when I was his age that I would never even think of doing now.

Favors?

I'm in a mood: **** keeping Favors. I've been sick of talking about his potential, then his desire, then his injuries, then his fit, then, then, then I AM DONE.

I feel ya. What position is okobo btw? (Sincere question as I have no idea)

Were there good replacements for favors available that could stretch the floor?

Okobo is a PG.

Bates-Diop maybe had that stretch 4 potential, but not a lot of guys this year in that mold. (I like Gary Clark in the 2nd round)

Keita Bates-Diop. Who might not make it in the league, but I'd rather swing for the fences of "maybe he's a starter" than the excitement of "probably a decent guy off the bench."

I have complete faith in Lindsey and Snyder. If Allen is their guy then I'm 100% behind the pick. I'm stocked to watch Grayson in summer league in a couple of weeks.

Here is the main thing I wanted from our draft this year.

When Donovan drives and passes, I wanted a guy who could hit an open 3. I also wanted a guy who could, if the defense closes out quickly, can put the ball on the floor and finish at the rim. If said player attacks the rim and the rim is protected, the player would be good enough to pass to an open teammate.

Grayson can do those things. He is a young Jamal Crawford and could have a long career.

What about all the tripping incidents and really dirty play by Allen? What about the scrum Mitchell and Allen got into? Does being a dweeb not get considered?

Young Jamal Crawford? You have got to be kidding me...

The Jazz find equal or better talent as undrafted free agents and anonymous role players in Europe. The draft is where you have a chance to swing for some ****. Or if not, at least use picks as liquid transactional capital on the trade market.

So ****ing dumb.
