What's new

No lunch for Huckabee, Is it the same?

You’re so lopsided it’s boring. The two party system has turned us into political hooligans.

I don’t think it’s the product of the two party system. It’s more the product of a brainwashing apparatus that the now fascist GOP uses to create an alt reality for their side. That’s the #1 problem with the GOP today. That’s why moderates don’t exist in the party anymore. Fox News and am radio have created such a radical and uncompromising alt reality that it prevents moderates from having any significant say.

The more radical you are, the more delegates you’ll win in the primary. Once you win the primary, you can depend on the alt reality apparatus to pump out propaganda.

There’s no reasoning with today’s GOP. It has more in common with fascism than traditional conservativism. It has more in common with Hitler than Buckley.

There’s no reasoning with anyone! Both parties have been swimming in shady business for years! The changes needed go deeper. For one, change the electoral system. It’s embarrassing that HC and DT were our effin choices these past elections.

Absolutely not.

Both parties are not the same. It’s not even close.

Candidates weren’t the same either. Clinton vs Trump, not the same, at all. One was clearly unqualified for president. He won, with the help of Russian collusion and an unfortunate act by Comey.

And before you go there, don’t try talking about “the media.” The left has nothing close to Fox News. Nothing.

Think about the two parties. Policy on:
  • Energy
  • Environment
  • Foreign policy
  • Taxes
  • Entitlements
  • Education
  • Social justice
  • Civility
  • The media
  • Compromise
  • Marriage
  • The economy
Couldn’t be any different between the two parties. Both aren’t near the same suckage.

Ugh, okay. Not playing that game. Have fun.

Ok. Well you brought it up. Not sure what you were expecting.

Don’t come on here and do battle with a historian and think that your “both sides are at fault/the same” pathetic argument is going to hold up.

Both sides ARE NOT the same.

One side has become a fascist party. It refuses to compromise. It refuses to govern as a representative democracy. Its fine giving up its checks and balances to empower an tweeting autocrat. He’s attacking our institutions daily. This fascism is forcing authoritarianism down our throats.

So don’t come on here with your anti-clinton vitriol and baseless arguments that “both sides are the same.”

Clearly, they aren’t. And if you can’t see that then you’re not worth arguing with. Stick to World Cup posts @Jazzta

Try harder, you almost got me.
Boring I say...

A different viewpoint to my own "centrist liberal" position for civility, but one that is worth reading for the viewpoint of the more liberal crowd. Something to think about.

A certain class of centrist liberal was upset by this supposed affront to civility. The Washington Post editorial board wrote that current history doesn't justify uncivil behavior, and Sanders "should be allowed to eat dinner in peace." Former Obama adviser David Axelrod tweeted that he was "appalled" at people celebrating Sanders getting kicked out. The Atlantic's Conor Friedersdorf suggests that such incivility increases the likelihood of a Trump re-election.

This reaction is silly, and it divides the opposition to Trump for zero political gain.

He's right. Both parties are different sides of the same coin. It doesn't matter which "party" is in power, the same stuff goes on and the fighting and bickering continues.
There is very little difference in what goes on when there is a regime change despite the promises.
Both sides are messed up, and something big needs to change for there to be actual change.

Go ahead and respond and do your "historian" thing.
This is what I know and have seen. I won't read your completely skewed post if you make one.
Just know there is a big problem here, and your viewpoint is just as much part of the problem as the "GOP enemy" viewpoint.
It's all a mess.
