Jazz New Two Way Contracts

Now that Niang is a roster player, and not a 2 way player, it seems Utah has two open slots (I'm assuming McCree isnt going to get re-signed seeing as he hasnt even played on the SL team).

Stanton Kidd seems like an obvious one. He has played well and is on the Jazz's SL team, so there is mutual admiration on both sides. Will he take that kind of contract when he is on a good European team, probably making good money?

My pick for the 2nd contract would be Yuta Watanabe. He looked really good for Brooklyn's SL team. 24 year old from George Washington University. Japanese native who says he has started to model his game after Joe Ingles.



Marcus Derrickson would be my next suggestion after Watanabe. I was basically the only person on twitter hyping Derrickson as a player that should be drafted and he has played very well for the Warriors SL team. I'd be pretty shocked if they didn't offer him a 2-way contract, but if they don't, I would love to have him. He is also a former HS teammate of Donovan Mitchell.


The only player on the Jazz's current roster that interest me is Kelan Martin. He hasnt been overly impressive in SL, but he has skills. If he can work on his body, he could have some upside.

I really like what I see from Watanabe. Very active and he has shot well in SL. If he keeps that up, he could be molded to play in a system. He deserves to get a chance with a NBA team.

I saw him play in college and thought maybe if he got in shape. I dpn't know if anyone remembers Rico Washington a big that played at Weber maybe 20-25 years ago. Same type of game and both extremely lazy.

I wonder if Naz will get a deal somewhere. If we didn’t have Grayson I bring him on... I think he’ll get NBA rotation minutes somewhere down the road... like I think he’s better than Ian Clark and that guy keeps getting contracts.

I’d really like Yuta Watanabe for the last spot, but my wife lived in Japan when she was a teenager and speaks Japanese. . . so I’m biased that way.

Jazz already locking up Europe and Australia. Might as well add Asia to the international mix as well. Become a truly global franchise.
