Can Donovan be an All-Star

I fully expect him to challenge for a starting role. Like the article said, he averaged 22 a game after the break and 24 in the playoffs, and I would argue he would’ve averaged more had Rubio not been injured. Because of that he had to facilitate and score. I think he could average 26/5/4. That will get him in.

Winning DPOY last year will go a long way towards Rudy getting in, however I think the jazz need to be a top team for him to get in.
 
Man with so much talent in the west the all star team selection will be interesting. They should just do a league all star team, if they did that they'd both likely be in. With it just being the west getting however many spots it'll be tough for either of them, though I expect Donovan to get in based on hype.
 
We will have to be among the top 3 records in the league at the break to get any all-stars and even then individual issues could derail it (if Gobert is injured much, if Mitchell is in a minor slump or something, etc.). We just won't get the press. Coaches may overlook the obvious star-power elsewhere and pick the players that are the biggest thorns in their sides, on which list Mitchell and Gobert are likely at the top, but with all the current, former, and fringe all-stars in the west it will be tough. If we have a top-4 in the NBA record, we will probably end up with 1. Top-3 could net us 2. Anything less than that is likely another snub, until Gobert gets another all-defensive nod next year and Mitchell is in the discussion for MVP.

I think this year one of them gets in, next year maybe both.

Yeah it also becomes even more meaningless. When everyone is super, no one is.
 
Donovan’s hipe will help him. His good relationship and standing with the media who votes on it, will also help him. It’s possible, but his position is ridiculously stacked out West with more established names. I believe he can do it, but he’ll have to have another blow you away kind of season to make it happen. I’ve noticed by his IG he’s in a routine, also seems to be on a food schedule with the Jazz nutrition chef. He’s plugged in for sure. If I was him I’d leave this smoky *** place for a few weeks and come back then. Donovan’s here, he’s committed to being great, and to all those who worried about him not getting work in, see how silly you were to worry?
 
We will have to be among the top 3 or 4 teams in the west at the all star break for Donovan and Rudy to both get in. And they'll have to be putting up monster stats.

And even then it will be tough because of how loaded the west is with established talent that will basically get in regardless of numbers.

Unless they changed it, but in the past it was always coaches that voted the bench. It’s possible the writers get a % if the starter vote, but almost positive coaches strictly vot the bench in

Fan voting is often just stupid. I dont see Ridy ever getting the fan vote. Donovan has a chance. Maybe they'll get in as injury replacements.
 
If we're riding second in the west before All-Star break no way Rudy gets left out

Ok so when (using hyperbole) every player in the west is all-star caliber, how do you select the all-star team? The more all-star caliber players in the west the harder it is to differentiate among them. Westbrook might be averaging 28/8/8 while his team is 6th in the west, while Mitchell might be averaging 25/4/4 and his team is 2nd in the west, and Curry is also doing this, as is Lillard, and so on and so on. So who gets picked? First we know starters are purely a popularity contest, so that is already meaningless for the most part. But then when you have 8 reserves all deserving then who gets picked? It makes it less meaningful when it is nearly a roll of the dice rather than the cream rising to the top. When it is all cream, how is it differentiated. So, as I stated, when everyone is super, no one is.

fans vote the starters, coaches pick the reserves. So can't blame the fans for the benches when Ut ah players get snubbed. I think it's going be a down year for the jazz. They snuck up on people last year and I love MiMitchel l his game and the quality of human being he is awe some but he needs to work on shot selection if the Jazz are going take another step forward. He took a lot of shots so of course his scoring average was high. I got the Jazz finishing 6th, 7th,8th,9th in the west. It's going be a dog fight and jazz just don't have the quality other teams have.
